True.. Knowing the board and their history just faff around. We get linked with various player. Get excited till the last week when sod all has happened so far and it doesn't. Their vision is way way off lately

If, after all this time, anyone gets excited on the basis of transfer speculation then it's nobody's fault but their own when they're disappointed.

You only need to look at utd to see its not always about buying the best toys in the shop!

Yes, it is definitely about buying the best. The thing is, you have to be able to tell the difference between the best and the shiniest.

No. This is  exactly how we assembled a squad full of average players. Buying them cheap, after lengthy injuries, at an age where they will hardly improve significantly any more. Sure there is always a possibility they will turn out world-beaters but that is like 1% and 99% of times they will end up with way too fat contract riding our bench or being loaned out because they can not be re-sold immediately being on that big money. We still got some of those on loan and we got Drinkwater, BArkley, Emerson, Alonso, Willian, Giroud, Morata in the squad.

We are a top club or are supposed to be one and the only acceptable policy is buying genuine, proven quality or absolute top class talent and pay what is necessary or dont. But do not go for 2nd rate players, even if they are on a purple patch just because it is less risky. This is fine for mediocre clubs who can not afford or attract absolute top quality and thus settle for ok players for ok prices because the risk is low. That is how so many clubs like Bayern after their CL win 2001, the Milans more lately, Lazio before, many previously very successfull German clubs like HSV, BVB, more recently ManUtd (who admittedly took risk by overpaying for average players) relegated themselves from CL winners to mediocre squads not able to compete internationally. This took those clubs 10+ years to recover if at all. We can not have this. Not even for squad players. There is a constant outflow of world class talent in this club, mostly because of incompetence by the board so if we continue selling our better players and assembling "squad" players who we can not get rid of we will be more and more reliant on those. Look at it this way. We sold Felipe Luis and Bertrand, bought Emerson and Alonso, sold KDB Salah, bought or retained Pedro and fucking Willian who are still at the club, we sold Costa and Lukaku bought Morata and Giroud, we will lose Hazard- currently our main striker and - what - buy Callum Wilson? I know its not planned to be a 1 on 1 replacement but it could very well turn out to be if we continue to fail landing our major targets. If we want average players to be the solution, well congratulations, we got an academy full of average players who will cost us peanuts and at least give a shit about the club. If this club goes down to mediocrity which it bloody looks like at the moment I would rather want this to happen fighting with young, homegrown Chels than with some random donkeys like the Moratas, Willians and Alonsos of this world who we signed as replacements for the rare successes of our scouting system which we graciously donated to our main rivals.

You'd hope not then again people hope for change. Or doesn't help when deal looks close then falls through for whatever reason. Such false hope.

See what happens. Just seem to be going for that will do approach

All the best are shiny!

What grade of shiny?

nah lads look at liverpool

shaqiri was 13m list goes on

also about getting the best out of players

Unless we get a new owner we won't be buying worldies, agents are parasites and ffp to name a few reasons

next they will kill loan market

leicester have shown us all its not about £100m players

rather wilson than Arnautovic IMO but both are not good enough. i wouldn't take them for anything more than a free. the rumoured 50m are madness and the deal will never be this big but wilson is at least hg.

Also is three years younger.

Don't think it means anything, but Solanke to Bournemouth for 19m is done deal.  Wilson to Chelsea rumour will hot up now, people putting 2 and 2 together

Solanke's a Defoe replacement (the latter's going/gone to Rangers)!

The club is beyond stupid if they go after those two for 50m. 50m man.

We are in dire need for new striker, but thing is we should rather pay 100m on someone who is actualy top instead of forking 50m on those average ones and then splash 50m in summer again.

Will the club realise that paying big on average players is the worst possible solution? Either pay huge and get actual quality or go for bargains, hope it works.

If reports are true, Pool is looking after Werner who might cost only 40m, yet we will end up with someone crappier and pay more.

Bournemouth are probably signing Solanke to replace Defoe, who's going to Rangers. Not every club do the '1 out, 1 in' like us...

Not sure that Bournemouth is ready to spend 19M on player just to be Defoe replacement. He was their 4th striker...

Solanke is injured so I think that Bournemouth are gettin ready to sell Wilson in summer.

To be honest, I'd not read too much into the price tag, certainly not when the prices are getting more inflated in the market these days. I mean, look at City. They have like 50-60 million player sitting on the bench almost every week!

And anyway, don't Bournemouth only have 2 main strikers in Wilson and Josh King? Mousset has barely played.
