No official confirmation yet but Matt Law speculated that James will be out for a few weeks, regardless of whether he goes for surgery or not.

isnt then a surgery better if hes gonna miss 'a few weeks' either way...

i rather have him get surgery and miss lets say two months than he gets 'rested' and comes back three weeks later and always have the uncenrtanty with his knee.

Latest from The Athletic says James doesn't need to undergo surgery, after his scans. Will be rested for a few games at least.

At least there is Azpilicueta to the rescue, someone we can rely on and not Zappacosta.

Will be a big problem once Azpi leaves/retires though, no one worth their salt will come with no scope to break in the starting Xl.

Do we have any serious RBs coming up in the academy?

Livramento but he'll likely do a Lamptey if he can't see a way through to regular. It's the one downside to having so much talent coming through, some will slip through the net as there's simply no room for all of them.

I thought yesterday about it that he might leave like Lamptey.I think that he might even have more potential than Lamptey l, but both were great for our youth.

Lamptey is btw the fastest player in europe[emoji17]

There you go, when Azpi leaves just promote that Livramento fella. :) If/when Livramento should decide to leave, then think about the next replacement. Until then I don't see why an academy player would reject playing for the first team for at least a few seasons.

Lamptey was different, he had both Reece and Dave blocking his path. Azpi has become very slow, sad to say but in a year or two he'll be done at the top level. Anyway, by the time Azpi goes there might be someone else, it doesn't necessarily have to be guy you mentioned. Just saying that with the talent coming through our academy there is no point in signing a bunch of Zappacostas to play second fiddle, many youngsters would be happy with that role (for a while at least).

we need to at least blood Livramento soon IMHO

if giant clubs like Bayern, Barca, Dortmund, etc etc can play 16, 17, 18yos on a regular basis I see no reason why we cannot at least give a rollout to some

Nah, I do not think so, done as a first XI player, yes. However, Dave is an incredibly handy player for the back line and we should be looking to pull some James Milner sh*t with him. Essentially, he can play RB2/LB2/CB4 or RB3/LB3/CB5 if you prefer.

Essentially, he should be our utility man for when we want to shut games down in the last 20-10 minutes. Players like that are really handy.

Last few games. Meaning the games with his knee injury. Chillwell is playing with pain and god knows how is James' knee. Heck, even a surgery was mentioned a lot.

Just like Mount last season. He needs to recover fully.

As Mount does, Reece struggles very hard for a few games without Lampard considering their substitutions. Lampard does not help players in bad shape, by insisting to keep on playing with them, he digs their holes still deeper. Same thing for Werner. Massive mistake, very bad coaching, inability to handle with forms and poor forms, especially when it affects his formers players.

Was same last season with Mason and Tammy when they were playing poorly and it only led to folk on here slaughtering them to the death despite the fact they’d probably played about 17 games in a row.

I hope he starts looking for forward passes instead of passing backwards every time, if not he risks losing his place to Hudson Odoi who is more daring in space in this 3-4-2-1 formation.

This is something that James definitely needs to improve on. He needs to be more progressive, to vary his passes. It feels like he's become too much of a RB/RWB that's just good at crossing the ball.

And ironically with this back 3, Lamptey would have been much more suitable in this system than James.
