"Jorginho is in danger of becoming viewed as something of a teacher’s pet to Sarri, such is the 60-year-old’s obsession with him."

Best definition for Jorginho. "Teacher's pet". The past 2 season have been a nightmare. Top 3 worst signings of the decade: Bakayoko, Morata and Jorginho.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri defends Jorginho: 'He needs his team-mates to MOVE'

CHELSEA boss Maurizio Sarri has defended Jorginho in light of recent criticism of the player, insisting his game is based around the movement of his team-mates.

Quote

Blues midfielder Jorginho has come under fire of late, with the Italian baring some of the blame for the Blues recent slip in form.

Chelsea won just one Premier League match in January, but showed signs of significant improvement on Saturday by thrashing Huddersfield 5-0.

Many believe the west London side’s blip in results is due to opponents marking out Jorginho, thus stifling the “Sarri-ball” the Blues boss has implemented this season.

“Jorginho played very well,” Sarri said.

“Jorginho needs movement without the ball from the other players because he is used to play one touch and it’s very difficult to play one touch without the movement of the other players.

“So the team in the first 25-30 minutes played very well, we have movements without the ball and for Jorginho it’s easier I think.

“We played our football because we moved the ball fast, very well.

“We didn’t play our backs to the opposing goal like in the last match but we attacked the spaces, so we played our football.”

Jorginho was taken off with a groin problem in the second-half of last weekend’s fixture.

The Italy international was replaced by Real Madrid loanee Mateo Kovacic in the deep-lying role, as N’Golo Kante continued in his more attacking position.

And Sarri revealed that should his old colleague continue to be hampered by the problem, that is how he would set up.

“Kovacic is really close to Jorginho in moving the ball very fast, one touch,” added Sarri.

“In the future, he will be able to play this position well and Jorginho will be able to rest.”

Chelsea face the mammoth task of taking on title chasers Manchester City away on Sunday (4pm).

Was watching Sunday Supplement and they casually drop into conversation that Jorginho only passes sideways. It is quite astonishing how easily people fall into the trap of following trend. If you are being paid to analyse football then at the very least you should do is actually watch what you are analysing to proper standard.

Or the myth that Kante was ever a 'holding midfielder'.

They must all be instructed from higher up to feed these cliches, i refuse to believe so many 'footballing people' can be such simpletons. I'm not just talking the Jorginho/Kante debate just the general basicness in football talk on the TV overall, it's mindblowing.
