Superblue_1986 5,356
In an ideal world there's an option to buy which we can trigger if he's successful next summer. But if there's not then so be it, we are getting a top player for a season whom could help us massively. If he fits into the team, has an excellent season and has a big impact on us getting back into the top 4 and back into the champions league, or even winning some trophies then it will be worth it and we'll cross next season when it happens. There has to be a mid to long term plan at the club, but what we don't want to do is allow such a plan to allow us to forget about the present. We don't know what other teams may do in a couple of seasons time, or if any of our players choose to leave, get injured, etc. There has to be a focus on this season, in what will likely be a transition season, to get back into the Champions League. If Kovacic helps with that, option to buy or not, then I'm all for him joining.
Yeboii 1,844
This is a guy I've wanted us to sign since he was at Inter. Hopefully the stories are true!

Unionjack 7,530
I'm more pissed off at the cuntish reports that we are turning him into their next Modric for them. With all their wealth and players you would expect they had some class and gratitude about them. But instead they have to try to lord it over us poor peons like the Manc twats. communicate 2,703
If he really sign for us then our midfield option change from kante bakayoko Fabregas to jorginho kante Kovacic. That is one massive improvement
DDA 8,048
Ahh reading the Madristas completely slagging us off, saying that we are developing this guy for them is soo fucking annoying. I hate them beyond belief.

That is one massive improvement On the paper, yes. But in reality, it will take a lot of time to build some chemistry. I think we'll stick with the old guard for the start of the season and then gradually integrate the newcomers, after a few practice sessions and games. The Premier League is going to be a very very tough competition this season. Some teams improved their squad by signing new players (Liverpool, Everton - I think Richarlison is a great signing for them, City), while others improved by keeping their best ones (Spurs, Liverpool again, United, Arsenal). Just think about it. No big name, except for maybe Courtois, has left the Premier League during this window and the only way someone does is if Barca works some wonders and signs Pogba. Which won't happen, by any means. Also, the teams that got promoted are looking quite sharp, specially Fulham and Wolves. Newcastle kept their manager, so did Burnley and Huddersfield. I'm very interested in seeing how West Ham and Everton do as well, specially because of their new managers. I really think it's going to be very very tough and we cannot afford missing the start like we did last season. Even then it was extremely difficult to catch up. This time it will be impossible. Kovacic has the potential of becoming an essential player for Chelsea, but if we take a risk with him, he might unfairly turn into a dissapointment real quick. I hope Sarri is a patient man.
