TERRY'S TALK: My sibling’s goal challenge is more than just a bet to me

APART from the first 20 minutes when I thought we were still finding our feet a little, we played really well against Carlisle on Saturday.

It was particularly pleasing that after two poor performances against Ipswich and Peterborough we responded well against a side I feel will be right up there pushing for promotion.

In the end it was just a shame we couldn’t go on and get the goal, and I have to hold my hands up and say I was disappointed that my shot didn’t go in.

I thought I’d caught it really well, although in the end I just dragged it wide and my search for a goal still goes on.

So while my brother (Chelsea star John Terry) is also struggling a bit to get on the scoresheet as well, our season-long bet to see who gets the most goals remains all-square at the minute.

Not only would it be nice though to take some money off him, I also realise how important it is for me to start chipping in with a few goals and hopefully it won’t be too long before I’m up and running.

The only other thing that disappointed me a bit on Saturday was that a section of the crowd was getting on the players’ backs a bit at the start of the game.

Yes, we didn’t start that brightly, but you really don’t need your own supporters to be giving you flack when you are not even losing the game.

In fairness the South Stand did give us some great backing towards the end to try and get a winner, and that is what we need for the whole game.

We now go from a tough match with Carlisle into another hard game at Brighton.

They too are unbeaten so far this season so we know it is going to be a difficult place to get a result, but we won’t go there fearing them and hopefully we can get back to winning ways.
