I just want to concentrate on my performances and play well because it's not nice for the fans to have an ongoing thing. But I will be a Chelsea player for the rest of my career. -Jole Cole-
Kez 2,727
I thought he signed a new contract? wtf
misschief 24
He's only got two years left, the plan according to Kenyon is to re-negotiate next summer.
Kez 2,727
Gets his rewards; Cole was one of the Blues' best performers last season, his dynamic displays on either flank keeping the likes of Florent Malouda and Shaun Wright-Phillips mired on the bench. Oft criticised in his early days at Stamford Bridge – most notably by his manager at the time, Jose Mourinho – the former West Ham man has toned down his showboating antics over the past year or so and upped his output considerably. This transformation was highlighted during the Champions League final in May, when Cole tracked back relentlessly all game to help stifle the influence of Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo. The England star has picked up where he left off during pre-season, his fine form in Asia making a significant impression upon new manager Luiz Felipe Scolari. And so the 26-year-old is set to be rewarded for his all good work with a new five-year deal, which will supposedly boost his weekly wage from £60,000-per-week to £80,000. Cole will begin discussions with Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon upon returning to London next week. (Reuters Various) That says next week from a few weeks ago. I read it wrong i thought he'd already signed hope it will be sorted soon Edited August 18, 2008 by Kez
BlueLion. 21,491
Kenyon doesn't like offering contracts during the season, May next year is the most likely time we'll see him sign.

Didnt Carvalho sign one mid season a few years ago?

EskWeston 696
It is no suprise that the speculation surrounding Joe is all rubbish! It is great to hear that he wants to stay here for many more years and i hope we get the contract sorted out with him as soon as possible. But Kenyon did indicate that nothing will be done till next summer now.,
misschief 24
I think the club are mad not to pin Cole down to a contract before next summer. I have to say its crept up on me a bit but he's probably the player who's grown on me most at Chelsea over the last couple of seasons. He's really grown up and grown into his role and his attitude is top class.

He's become one of my favourites over the past few seasons
