BlueLyon 9,359
The main problem with Conte that I see is he keeps playing Cesc and Cahill althrough they are poor. Last year he was decisive and benched Iva, Terry and Cesc. The results came. This year its same old story, players who are big at this club play and not those that actualy deserve to play. KevinAshburner 1,270
Chelsea definitely have no chance of winning this. But at least we not as bad as Everton who are gonna be in bad shape by the time the January transfer window comes around and no player will want to join them Everton. Everton are 85% likely to be relegated.

This is my biggest concern, playing same team with same formation every match and hoping for miracle is stupid. TBH he dropped Ivanović, Terry and Fabregas pretty late last season, after relatively long string of bad results. Pretty much every fan on this forum realized that all three are big underperformers much sooner ... just like Cahill, Alonso, Fabregas and Willian are this year Transfer window is over, we can't do nothing about it, Conte can't do nothing about it. Focus on the players you have and try to find the best solution within the squad. Every underperforming player can be benched and we have players that can replace them -> Cahill (Rudiger), Alonso (Kenedy, Azpi, Pedro, Zappa), Fabregas (Drinkwater, Bakayoko, Luiz), Willian (Pedro, Musonda) .... xPetrCechx 13,586
Conte repeats that the second half v Roma was bad in many aspects but that is the past and it is important now to prepare well for Sunday. Conte says for sure he is happy to work with these players but this season we are facing a lot of problems that are not simple to solve. Conte adds that in this moment you can see if you are winners or losers.
xPetrCechx 13,586
Conte states that it is important during the season to have rotation in team selection. Conte says there is a big problem for all the teams that want to fight for the title - and that problem is Manchester City. Conte says if Man City continue this way it will be difficult but Chelsea will continue to fight. Conte says new England call-ups Tammy Abraham and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are having the right path for their development. Ayioros 76
And the bashing Cahill team strike again, what a surprise... I have told it yesterday it was obvious that Cahill will start, when you see his recent match and compare it with others defenders. Cahill deserve a start at this moment maybe not always in the past and maybe not in the futur but at this moment yes.

Christiensen has done nothing wrong when he has started, yet he can't get a sniff in the side. Conte is making statements like he will drop anyone under-performing yet picking Cahill time and time again. This is the problem for me right now, we have no balls to allow others a real chance because the same faces are picked time after time.
Leif 6,006
Good or bad, our players aren't picked due to form (maybe the board think it's too short-sighted?) Our players play because they put a wedge in the profile of the other team. (That's the theory anyway.) Against short, weak players? Doesn't matter if they've been shit, Cahill and Bakayoko will play. Against slow, not very tactically astute lower-league players in a meaningless cup game? Fabregas will be playing, even if he's been shit. Against anyone? Hazard and Morata will play, even if they've been shit. There's quite a bit right and wrong with this approach. More wrong than right in my opinion, but i understand somewhat why the board would demand it. On one hand, if you have different faces in the team week in week out, you risk your consistency. On the other hand, the board seem to care a whole lot more about the 'image' of our XI than the quality of it, which is totally stupid. If Cahill and Fabregas were on the bench all season, our pathetic board would cry and shout at the manager for marketing reasons.
Leif 6,006
Watch Cahill be the only player on the pitch who looks scared. The only one with wide eyes, eyebrows raised, shouting as loud as he can since he's the only idiot who sees a 'threat' instead of equals.... followed by acting as small as possible the moment he's part of a mistake. Sideshow Luiz 2,310
On the surface, it doesn't look like we're going to get anything out of this match. However, that's when we seem to always show up, when no one (including our supporters) thinks we have a chance.
