Cesc has to start in this game in some position even if it's as a 10. If not we will struggle to play through an extremely stubborn Atletico side. Will be interesting though have a feeling they might go with a front 3 to play up against our back 3.

As this is the first game in their new stadium they will not be entirely at home yet so this could be a big plus. The fans might not be as accustomed to how create atmosphere like the spurs at Wembley and more importantly the pitch is less wide so that usually favours the away team if they are to see less of the ball. That being said our hopes should not hinge on that. I hope we will be clever and able to retain the ball under pressure and break Atletico's rhythm. They are not that great in attack IMO. A lot of their goals come down to individual class and forcing mistakes from the opposition. They dominate their usually weak La Liga opponents with teamwork, fighting spirit and superior tactics which is admirable but they do not sweep those teams aside like Barca and Real usually do. Anyway they tend to raise their game against high quality opposition and will do so against us but our styles are kinds similar so it should be an intense but probably not too high class game. We neutralized them completely for 3/4 of the two ties in 2014 which what was a relatively mediocre team and then someow lost our plot in defense in the second half at the bridge and also had really bad luck in attack. We need to exploit the pace and height advantage we should have over them. Counter quickly and fucking deliver on set pieces for once, Cesc!

It's their third game at the new stadium, their first in the Champions League. Won first two games comfortably.

So just how good have Atleti been so far this season? I haven't seen a single minute of La Liga football yet. Are we entering this as huge underdogs?

I think they weren't very impressive so far.. Dont think we're underdogs here.

IIRC they haven't conceded a single goal in their new stadium so far.
