Southend Want Grant

No not the fat sack of shit, be sensible no one wants him, but young Anthony...

Southend manager Steve Tilson is interested in signing Chelsea youngster Anthony Grant on a permanent basis.

The midfielder spent time on loan at Roots Hall last season and impressed Tilson with his performances.

Tilson was able to include Grant in his side for Thursday's pre-season friendly against Billericay and is now hoping to complete a deal.

"He's available if we want him and we will be speaking again on Friday to see if something can happen," Tilson told the club's official website.

"Sometimes it is better the devil you know and I think he would be a good addition to the squad.

"He has versatility and he slotted into place nicely on Thursday night."

Could be a good move for him...

I had expecations of him when he came on against ManUtd. Another one that didnt make the grade unfortunately....

His attitude was poor and generally held him back in my opinion. Had potential to be a decent holding midfielder, but it was clear a few seasons ago that he wasn't going to make it.

I was about to have a good laugh at our fantastic ex-manager Grant being offered such a lowly job.

As for Anthony, well, clearly this would be a good move for him. Any league club would be a good move for him. Except maybe Luton because then he'd get relegated.
