the wes 7,212
Steve Clarke is set to remain with Chelsea after talks with new manager Luiz Felipe Scolari. The Observer says Clarke will stay on as an assistant coach after meeting Scolari in Portugal last week. Clarke is highly regarded at the club for his work with Mourinho and his unsuccessful replacement, Avram Grant. Club doctor Bryan English also met Scolari last week for talks. EskWeston 696
Not a huge suprise considering that we have heard nothing about Clarke leaving like we did with Ten Cate. From Scolari's point of view it makes sense to have someone who has been involved with this group of players for such a long time.

This is good news, and to have some continuity with ex players can only be good. Who knows, could be Chels manager in a few years, ..or offered the Scotland job..... Who knows, could be Chels manager in a few years, ..or offered the Scotland job..... It is possible, although i think the club would always be likely to go with someone more "High Profile" although he could move on to somewhere else and come back one day once he has been in the main job for a while. From Scolari's point of view it is very clever, to have someone with such knowledge of the team. On the other hand considering everything that went on last season it may have been a good idea to have a completely fresh start.
BlueLion. 21,491
Not keen on the source, but its a no-brainer. A new manager needs a face familiar to the Stamford Bridge faithful.
EskWeston 696
Well there has not been any confirmation on if Clarke is staying or not, but reports are saying that he certainly is and also that Lollichon is also staying on as keeper coach.. BlueLion. 21,491
If he was going to leave, he'd either have walked out or been sacked by now, judging on the recent ruthlessness of the club.
