Chelsea have ruled out extending the loan of Slobodan Rajkovic at PSV Eindhoven. De Telegraaf says Chelsea management were unhappy with lack of action Rajkovic saw last season and instead will seek to 'park' the defender at another club for next term.

Reserve team regular Carl Magnay has today joined League One side MK Dons on a one-month loan deal. Magnay, who joined us after winning the Football Icon programme in 2006, links up with team-mate Shaun Cummings at stadium:mk, working under former Blue Roberto Di Matteo and assistant Eddie Newton.

The 20-year-old defender has made seven reserve league appearances for the second string this season, added to the 16 he accumulated in 2007/08, and has also captained the side twice in Liam Bridcutt's absence.

Also this month, Magnay received his first call up into the Northern Ireland Under 21 squad.

His first opportunity for match action will be at Cheltenham on Saturday, when the Dons will be favourites to win and maintain their second place status in the division.

Fellow defender Cummings, who joined Magnay on last summer's humanitarian trip to Israel and Jordan in aid of global charity partner Right to Play, has already amassed 25 appearances for the Buckinghamshire club.

Carl has been a dedicated professional since winning the Sky One footballing talent show, and all at the club wish him well over the next month. His has been a fantastic journey so far and it would be a huge testament to his hard work if he appears in a Football League game.

Carl Magnay has joined Northampton on a months loan. After a dissapointing spell at MK dons where Carl struggled to get a chance due to Robbie and Eddie not wanting to change a winning team Carl will once again have a go at impressing on loan. He admitted recently that the loan to MK Dons dented his confidence and he was unsure that he wanted to go out on loan again but it looks like he has taken up another challenge and i hope he does well there.

Well not everyone makes it. I think he was on loan at Twente for 3 years (not sure) and had some injury problems and couldn't even make it there. You win some, you lose some.

For example, Stoch made it there and we sold him. whistling.gif

Loaning players out sucks ass, I'm waiting for the board to realize that. mellow.gif

What would you recommend doing with them all? They can't all stay and clog up the Reserves, the Youth team would then get stuck too. We could probably put out a full reserve team with loaned players, this way they get competitive football at different levels.

Not being able to secure a work permit and having had a couple of bad injuries (not to mention a long suspention at one point) has made bring over Rajkovic very difficult indeed. He hasn't hit the levels we would have hoped him to and it seems he is now looking for a club, he is training at Cobham at the moment though but he will not have a future at Chelsea. It happens, they can't all make it with us...

Get rid of them. We loan out idiots nowhere near Chelsea-level like Ben Sahar and Sinclair, at the same time highly talented players like Stoch. Wtf is wrong with our board, just get rid of the bad players and make way for the talented ones.

Stoch wanted to leave, end of.

As for the rest I do agree, there's no point in keeping the deadweight, but isn't it nice to get SOME return for our troubles? that's what happens we put players on the transfer market and not everyone wants to buy em, but would rather loan them...

Fair comment but unfortunately you need the deadweight to put a whole team together to give the good ones a game. It costs very little to loan players, it actually saves wage money and you need to give them games to see which ones might be good enough. You also can't get rid of all loans as they all have contracts with us. The trouble is that it's usually the physically capable ones that push on at a young age. Sinclair was just super-quick and stuck out against kids. technically he just never got to the required level for us, always falling back on the speed, that's why the better ones will still filter to the top when they grow but it takes time and you can't leaves kids in the Reserves for years, we scrapped that idea a few years ago. Lastly the academy can only be self-sufficient if we can sell off a few players when tehy are not good enough so a lot of these loans turn into to season-long trials.
