The Mourinho Thread

Mate do you just thrive on being controversial?

Every fucking thing that a majority is happy with or agree with you just want to be the person who disagrees. Mourinho would be a bad idea, you've lost the plot, i don't care how much 'minor' reasons you can dig up he is still one of the best managers at the moment.

Oh and your not the one who who goes against the grain and tries to be controversial for the sake of it

The 'Old' is, for most of them, three times Premier League Champion, four time FA Cup winner, and Europan Champions aswell, so, I would be very happy if José is appointed and Lamps is still at the club, we'll have team spirit, intelligent people at the right place, harmony, and results.

Yeah, at a time when they were all in their prime and could play 50 games a season. But you watch, it will be another season where we have to try and accomodate Lampard in to the team at the expense of the others - even though apart from goals, he hardly contributes anything in the midfield and can only seem comfortable when the oppositions midfield is non-existant (Wigan and West Ham) all the while trying to make the likes of Terry and Essien even though they are either; unable to play more then once a week or have lost so much pace and staina due to knee injuries they offer hardly anything to the team other as an extra number on the team squad.

Exactly. There isn't one manager (available) who is better on the face of the earth...

If you really think that JT doesn't offer the team anything other than an extra number on the team squad then you really are clueless. And JT never had any pace yet is still considered our best CB, in a partnership with Luiz or Ivanovic.

Another reason???

Did Jose piss in your cornflakes or something?

There isn't one reason why it would be a bad idea lol. And yeah, having one of the greatest midfielders of our generation as a coach would make us into an old boys gentlemen club??? No it just makes sense, because he knows more about playing in midfield than anyone does. Ashley cole is still one of the best left backs, JT is still one of our best defenders and Cech if anything has shown how much of a quality keeper he still is. We can't just get rid of everyone because they reach a certain age. Without, Cech, Cole, and Lampard this season we would be in a much worse state than we are.

If Terry is our best defender, a man who is pretty much buggered phyisically the nits a sad situation for us. And Lampard may have been one of the best midfielders in the world in his prime, but now it will just be a case of the team being based around him (Jose and Lampard seem to have an everlasting hard on for each other) even though as soon as we come across teams with a decent midfield (City and even bloody Newcastle) he goes missing. It won't be a case of them being just minor squad players, it will be basically them and Jose trying to re create what happneded in a pass, something that can only fail misrably.

They were ? We won the CL last year bro.

You opinion is your opinion, I cant change it, the only thing I can tell is that you dont understand football at all.

But whats the point of making him a major part of the team, if he can hardly play? Squad player yes, but the highlight of the defence? Then we are clearly screwing ourselves, if he is our best defender at the moment, then we will have to do major spedning in the summer for defenders who are in their prime and can actually play most of the season..

Jose recognises great players. He will play what he thinks is best. He will get the most out of players like hazard and Mata. Just because he has a previous link to lampard doesn't mean that he will be playing every game... He hasn't even got a contract yet.

And the "everlasting hard on" is whats called "Great Respect", from one of the greatest players, to one of greatest coaches.

Yeah, that had major contributions by the likes of Mata, Ramires, Luiz - even the likes of bloody Kalou and Bosingwa. But also a huge amount of luck and everyman get bihind the ball type of football. Whether you agree with that or not, the simple fact is that our team has to be based on the likes of Mata and Hazard - yet I do fear that if Jose comes he will try and re live the glory days by putting the focus on Lampard and Terry - with people like Essien being used in a large capacity, even though they are all clearly past their prime

He is our captain for a reason. Your the only one saying he can hardly play. He had an injury which took him out for longer than expected though he is back and its just rafa not picking him. Next season he will probably be fully fit and ready to go. Luiz and Cahill have hardly proven that they are a great partnership. Neither has the domiannce or organisational and motivational abilities of JT.

No one is saying that isn't the case. Mata and Hazard are the future and a very promising one, and they will be the focus. It doesn't mean that we just draw a line and get rid of Cole lampard and Terry because they used to be the players we relied on. And Jose didn't become one of the best managers because he got sentimental. If someone plays its because he thinks they deserves to or there is a particular reason for it. He knows how quality mata and hazard are and if he was to come it would probably one of the main reasons he did...

If I can think that my favorite CFC player isnt a starter anymore, José certainly can too.Football is football, results will make the squad happy, Lampard will get some playing time against, as you said, easy midfields but he'll certainly play against big teams as well, just like Ryan Giggs.José wont fail, he is too much intelligeant.

You just basically proven my point, injuries will take much long to heal and years of using painkillers to play through injuries that should be rested have doomed him to early football retirement - taking away any pace he had in his prime - which in this day and age is becoming a more vital part of defending, meaning that we (like with Lampard) would have to do major accomodating tweaking to ouur play to get them in a comfortable position just to play decently.

Give it a fucking rest. Nothing in football is guaranteed. Are you new to this game? Are you new to sports?

As for Lamps being kept on, if Jose thinks he can use him then we'll trust him but let's not pretend he's been good in the double pivot as consistently as he used to be. Hopefully Jose doesn't let sentimentality blind him to our obvious need for a top class midfielder and keeping Frank around under the right circumstances would be great.

But we do have to plan for the future and it would be criminal if we stuck with the old to our detriment.

Yeah just like in against Man City, where we were toothless and he was completly non existant, the Club World Cup final where again he contributed to our toothless perfromance. Or just a few weeks ago against Man United, again another toothless performance with Lampard non-existant again, until after half time when he is subbed off and we give one of the best comebacks in recent memory and get a replay.

Remember, this is a guy who braoght Carvalho to Real Madrid, mayed him a major vocal part of the team - despite being increasinly injury and mistake prone, and it took next season for Jose to demote him and usddenly they were secure defensivly. Even though Carvalho was one of the best defenders in Europe does not mean you should keep them and use them in a large capacity becuase they were once great players.

The only interesting line in your post.

Nothing in football is guaranteed yes, but certainly José bring to his clubs more guaranties of success than any other manager now, so, I'll tell to shut up and show more respect.Lampard isnt good at the double pivot, who said that José will play him ? Who knows what tactic he'll use, and who knows how he'll manage Lampard, in fact, there are more chances of him coming than Lampard staying.Wait & See.

You're right, Lampard is at times useless, but now I understand your point of view, you fear that Lampard could stay & be reshaped & reused by José, I understand that perfectly but as I said, Lampard isnt a problem, he is not our main problem this season, he saved our ass many times and that also counts. We shouldnt focus on him, he wont play next year the big roles because he understand his position and his level, but he certainly isnt a problem, he has big influence, in the good way.

Your still making the assumption though that Jose would be playing them all game in game out which is just a guess as anything. There is still a space for them in the team. It may not be as prominent as once was, but it doesn't have to be an all or nothing situation.
