The only place to be 11,313
I made a the comparison of our expected income and expenses a few pages back but I can't find it now. Bottom line is, taking into consideration everything, the most important factor being the departure from the CL, there is no way we can afford this unless that Gazprom deal is worth at least 40m/yr which is not possible because that's barely what we get from Samsung.LOL seriously? We have a bunch of a few of the most overpaid athlete's in the world, that isSo you don't know what our Gazprom deal is worth then? Can we assume that you don't know what our other commercial deals are worth, besides the Samsung and Adidas ones? I'm starting to think that you might not have seen the books in quite some time. But it's good that despite the complete lack of knowledge of our income you're prepared to say that there is 'no way we can afford this'. Most people would've simply said they don't know, but you've really put your cock on the block and come out with a definitive answer. Congratulations on having the confidence levels of a far more knowledgeable person. Oh, and we've gone from making heavy losses to actually being in profit whilst amassing a rather impressive pool of young talent, improving our training facilities and also winning the biggest trophy in our club's history. So yeah, I do think they've done a good job.

Pizy 18,907
Some people are completely underestimating the difference a very top striker makes...Arsenal last year is the perfect example. Absolutely CARRIED them to 3rd.Our squad is infinitely better than that squad and Falcao is as good or better than RvP. I don't get why people think he'd flop here or not improve us greatly. He certainly would.

According to Dutch Telegraph, Emenalo has doubts about Bony.Huntelaar is linked with Arsenal, and they're also rumours of him signing a new deal.Llorente is heavily linked with a move to Juve.Lewandowski the same but to Man utd - i don't know why they need him, but there's been "Lewy to Man utd" talk since the summer.Remy is apparently on his way to Newcastle.Falcao is like the only striker we're linked with. Pizy 18,907
I just remember us all being so excited last year because we were strongly linked with Modric, Moutinho, Hulk ect.We ended up loaning out 2 of the players we bought and sold Meireles off. I'd say the summer buys more than made up for that window, though.PLEASE get Falcao!
Henrique 9,133
Hazard was 32m, and everyone here were saying it was great. So now Falcao, who is way better than Hazard and is trully great footballer is nit worth 48m? What this CHOULO guy is talking about financial fair play? Did he say the same thing when we paid 18m for Lukaku and 32m for Hazard, who was even more expensive than Juan Mata?Time to stop this talk,
Hutcho 8,443
We paid 50 mil, for torres... It didn't exactly slow roman down on his spending... Falcao is a bargain in comparison to that at 48 mil. If torres was worth 50 mil then falcao should be 100. We have a proper striker and we get top 4... yes there are no guarentees, but i am 100% confident it won't make us worse than now, and would definitely be an improvement. Top 4 is a must and then next season we can go from there... As for FFP, i'll let the boys at the top worry about that.
Chelsea Legend 11 4,062
Having a world class forward in top form won't solve all our problems, but they will make them seem less.I remember Carlo's first season, i thought for a fair chunk of the season their was clear signs the team was on the way down, what covered up that fact? Didier Drogba's form and goals.United's team are not great, what's covering that fact? There are no perfect teams, everyone is wanting in some area on the pitch. Match winners are without a doubt the most important aspect in deciding games, goals win games.
Hutcho 8,443
A great Striker can win games single handedly, regardless of the qualiy of the rest of the team. We need one. The building for next season should start with someone like Falcao.Exactly... uniteds defence has been pretty poor, their midfield is no where near as formidable as it has been, but they have pure quality up front. When we have a striker who can create things for himself, and convert the chances created then it can get the team out of so much trouble... Look at uniteds 3rd choice striker. He is always putting away those chances when his team needs them. Same with Citys' third choice. We don't even have one of those. That is the big difference, and can mean winning those games were you don't play well as a team.
Chelsea Legend 11 4,062
Take Cole, Terry and Lampard out and we haven't got much in terms of Premier ship experience. also, remember our start to the season? 1 loss to Clattenburg's ManUre and we never recovered. this side needs leaders on the pitch. enough with the under-23 revolution and go out and sign players in the 24-28 year old bracketWhat's the solution to that?
Chelsea Legend 11 4,062
do you know what FFP even is? owner's money is quite immaterial. we need to break even without roman's backpocketFootball clubs wishing to take part in the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League must balance their football-related expenditure over a three-year period up to the 2014–15 seasonI'm 100% sure the club is aware of this, if we are indeed in for Falcao its because we can afford it! Gourlay mentioned two months ago that there is a huge Sponsorship deal that will be announced in February, I feeling is that coupled with the new TV deal will put FFP concerns to bed
