Gilvorak 3,734
If we're measuring overall contribution in a Chelsea shirt, Essien far exceeds anything Mata achieved for us.In your opinion. Christo191

MetsajCFC 1,255
Sad to see him go. Great memories, at his peak surely one of the best in business if not the best in his position. Great personality, humble, loyal. Good luck to him!
didierforever 7,349
goodbye bison!!! we can only wonder what it could have been had his career not been strewn with injuries. best of luck for the future.
Strike 7,490
He was allright when he made his first comeback from a knee injury under Hiddink. Scored on his return at Juve and had a good run then on but his 2nd injury robbed him of being a big part in the Ancelotti era. Never got back to his old self after that
The Skipper 20,609
Hero. Was once the best midfield player in the world. Such a shame he was robbed by injuries. Good luck Bison. Rmpr

The only place to be 11,313
Wish him the best of luck. Actually thought he showed some flashes of the old Michael this season but that just made me miss him even more. From our point of view this is just one more step in the right direction though. dave30 728
One of three players i've ever had on the back of a shirt as a child. In his prime going forward he truly was a train. Best of luck Essien.

manpe 10,861
At the same time that video gave me the chills and made me sad. Same here, especially seeing the likes of Balli, Drogs and Maka along with Essien and even Lampard (even though the latter hasn't left, I still miss him). The thing I love the most about his goal against Arsenal, besides the ball hitting the net, is that he ran celebrating when the ball was still halfway there. CHOULO19 24,332
Best of luck Mike. Simply the best midfielder in the world at his best and a great servant to the club. Unfortunately one of the unluckiest players I've come across. One of three players i've ever had on the back of a shit as a child. In his prime going forward he truly was a train. Best of luck Essien. What?! dave30
