The Skipper 20,609
Meireles would've been a big player for us this season. Shame.

Azpinator 2,325
Very solid performance against Dortmund tonight, looked like the real Essien.
Sir Mikel OBE 4,920
If Mourinho comes back I can easily see Essien staying.Versatile and effective.
ashleyng 6
Essien games have improved slowly and slowly since join Madrid. I have to thank Mou for that. We should have him back next season. He can play RB if Azpi/Ivanovic got injured and can play CDM as well. To be honest, I want Essien in the starting 11 instead of Mikel next season, if we can't buy a quality CM. bleed_blue

GermanBlue 82
While speculation mounts over Mourinho's own future, Essien is keen to re-establish himself at Stamford Bridge and is convinced that his time at Real has shown that he can perform at the highest level."I will return to Chelsea with my head up and try to win my place back," said Essien."I think my loan at Madrid has shown I have still got it at the top level."http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11668/8683125Edit: Oh cmon Edited May 1, 2013 by GermanBlue

CHOULO19 24,332
He had a great game yesterday. Probably Real's best player along with Modric. But it's worth thinking about that all his good performances with Real have come at RB. The only place to be
The Mak 4,459
Does he know something we don't?! José anyone?? Well, if he's told anyone at Madrid of his future plans....
robsblubot 3,595
Essien can be the very best in the CM/DM role, but questions remain whether the many nagging injuries are behind him and whether they've taken a toll on his body.Perhaps if he no longer played in the African Cups... how many times has he come back injured? CHOULO19 24,332
Essien can be the very best in the CM/DM role, but questions remain whether the many nagging injuries are behind him and whether they've taken a toll on his body.Perhaps if he no longer played in the African Cups... how many times has he come back injured? Why do you think he would still be good in central midfield? He has lost most of the physical abilities that once made him the best central midfielder in the world.Like I said above, his best performances for Madrid this season has been at RB, and even then he offered very little offensively because he does not have the legs to make runs up and down the flank. How do you expect him to do well in central midfield where more physical ability is required?
Special Juan 28,141
He was sent on loan for a reason, he was poor, not only that he needed game time to recover this was a decent move but you won't see the Essien of old again, not a chance. Before he went his passing was some of the worst I have ever seen, even worse than that of Ramires at times.

Styles 9,790
Of course Essien is staying. He has a massive contract with two more years to go. He's staying put even if he isn't part of the team. Peace.
bleed_blue 136
Surely a versatile Essien will be preferred to an inept Mikel
