  1. 1. Would Toby Alderweireld be a good player for our squad?

    • Yes, he can become a starter here
    • Yes, he would be a decent squad member for our 60+ games
    • No, not at all

Please god no more CBs playing fullbacks here. I like Iva alot, but for a change I would like to have fast full back who is good going forward, skilled, with good cross and obviously can defend. Clyne for example.

--- TIBS ---

--- ALDERWEIRELD -- IVANOVIC -- CAHILL / JT -- AZPI ---

If Alderweireld picked up any form and looked decent for us, I'd be happy with this approach. Cahill would eventually take JT's place after one season should JT finally retire, and thus we would keep our ruthless defense mechanism!

Zouma not cahill

Alderweireld never even plays LB, where are people getting this from? He has no use in our squad unless we sold Ivanovic or loaned out Zouma. His positions are totally covered. No need to bring in another defensive squad player. If we're buying a defender he has to be of starting quality.

Has to be left sided.

nobody is proven at Chelsea until they play for us. lots of players have proven themselves at other English clubs and not panned out with us.every transfer is risky, slightly less risky if played in England before but still a risk.

I`d rather us sign a LB if Luis leaves and promote a CB we already have on our books for the 4th choice CB job. but that would be too long sighted for Jose and the current Chelsea regime.

We already have our young CB in Zouma, if we do that injuries to Cahill and Terry would lead to us playing two late teens/ early 20s in the back line.

I don't know about anyone else but I don't want us to be too future orientated because that will end us with the unbalanced mess of a squad we had in 12/13, ee have a perfect balance now.

He has played there before no? And he can play as a CB.

He IS a CB who plays RB for Belgium as we have no worthy fullbacks. He never plays LB.

If we sign him, which I hope we don't, it should be for the CB position

(I still can`t quote on here)

if Terry and Cahill were both injured we`d have Zouma and Bran at CB.with Omerou at back up who can play both CB and RB,put Dave at RB and true LB I mentioned earlier at LB (Kalas has already been loaned out I believe or would have kept) ..we can only count for a certain amount of injuries. playing it too safe and having too much insurance in experienced players is not good for the club in the long run.

the 2011/12 season has been mentioned in other threads to apparently justify fear of getting some young players involved but we aren`t living in the past when different young players were around, different group of veteran players.
