Manager confirmed

Chelsea Football Club is delighted to confirm that Luiz Felipe Scolari will be the club's new manager from July 1, 2008.

Felipe has great qualities. He is one of the world's top coaches with a record of success at country and club level, he gets the best out of a talented squad of players and his ambitions and expectations match ours. He was the outstanding choice.

Out of respect for his current role as Head Coach of the Portuguese national team, and to ensure minimum disruption to this work, there will be no further comment from Chelsea FC nor from Felipe about his new role until his employment with us commences.

Just heard this during the Switzerland Turkey match.

Glad that we've finally got a manager & all the rumours can go back to what players we're gonna sign.

Hopefully this will make Riccy want to stay.

I'm pleased :D

Must admit wasn't my first choice, but an excellent appointment. Just the type of manager we need, respected, a winner and can handle the big names.

Next season will be very very interesting now!!!

Holy shit. Announcing it in the middle of the tournament's a bit off innit? Can only think its because no-one was willing to sign for us/sort out contracts until they knew who they'd be playing for.

Scolari Wooowooo

He comes from Portugal

He hates the Arsenal! blue%20scalf.gif

I don't want to appear pedantic, But he actually is from Brazil.

Great appointment. Have to say he wasn't my first choice, But after all the uncertainty I'm pleased with Scolari.

I am NOT getting too excited with this. He has ZERO experience of managing in EUROPE. most of his life he has managed clubs in brazil and West Asia. and led a star studded Brazil team to the WC victory. He is 59 a bit too old. I am not sure how long he will last. He cant speak english, dont know how he will put his ideas across, exactly the reason why Lippi backed out.

The only positive thing is, Carvalho has an incentive to stay at Chelsea and finally we will see some good attacking football.
