OhForAGreavsie 5,253
Tonight :blue scalf:The Chelsea Under-18s are in action this evening for the first time in 2015 as they continue their FA Youth Cup campaign with a home tie against Huddersfield Town. The game is being played at Aldershot and will be screened live on Chelsea TVAn interesting couple of days ahead for the development squad. Ordinarily a number of tonight's likely starters would be expected to start important U21 fixtures as well but, with the 21s facing Porto tomorrow night, the full squad is going to have to be used over these 24 hours. What's more there's a lot of rain around and both games are scheduled for Aldershot. Stretched squads and a heavy pitch bodes well for some excitement. I'm really looking forward to both games. chelsea blue 615
FA Youth Cup report: Chelsea 6 Huddersfield 1Chelsea’s Under-18s booked a place in the FA Youth Cup fifth round this evening (Tuesday) with an emphatic win at Aldershot. The young Blues got off to a perfect start as Tammy Abraham headed them into an early lead before the forward added his second and Dominic Solanke struck a third inside half an hour.Huddersfield briefly reduced the deficit through Jamie Spencer but Abraham notched again moments later to secure a commanding half-time lead. OhForAGreavsie 5,253
How many is Abraham up to now? He's just completed his hat trick to put us 4-0 up vs Swansea with about 15 minutes left. We'll be away to Newcastle or Sunderland in the quarter-final.Charlie Colkett purring in midfield again.Edit 1: Kasey Palmer makes it 5-0. Not spectacular like his recent goals but a really, really good finish all the same.Edit 2: 6-0, Dom Solanke's second.
chelsea blue 615
Tammy Abraham netted twice in the first half before Dominic Solanke struck less than a minute after the restart to put the holders firmly in control of the fifth-round tie.Abraham then completed his hat-trick with a close-range finish before substitute Kasey Palmer and a second for Solanke rounded off another impressive night for the youth team. The Blues will now face a trip to either Sunderland or Newcastle United in the last eight. Team newsJoe Edwards made just one change from the 6-1 victory over Huddersfield Town in the fourth round as Kyle Scott replaced the absent Izzy Brown. Scott started in the no.10 role in midfield alongside captain Charlie Colkett and Charly Musonda. The back five remained unchanged as Bradley Collins continued in goal, protected by a defence of Ola Aina, Fikayo Tomori, Jake Clarke-Salter and Jay Dasilva. Dominic Solanke, with four goals in two Cup ties this term, led the line up front supported by Jeremie Boga and Tammy Abraham.Thomas into the bottom far corner. corner of the net. Manager reactionJoe Edwards spoke after the game about his satisfaction with progressing to the quarter-finals but noted there is still plenty of room for improvement among his players as they look to continue the defence of their Youth Cup crown. ‘We started well but I think that comfortable start dragged us into a little bit of a false sense of security,’ he told the official Chelsea website.‘We let Swansea into the game more than we should have done and they showed more threat on the break than Huddersfield in the last round, but I felt we could be doing a lot more.‘It’s another learning curve for us; a few players weren’t as aggressive and on the front foot with their decision-making and passing as in the last game, but we addressed that quite strongly at half-time and came out with a different performance in the second half.‘Brad has made some fantastic saves for us. Clean sheets are things you can celebrate at times but other times you mustn’t let them paper over the mistakes you’re making and we can definitely reflect on that because I expect the quarter-final to be a much tougher game.’The Under-18s are next in action on Saturday as they travel to Aston Villa in a top-of-the-league meeting in the southern section of the Under-18 Premier League. Meanwhile, Under-21 action comes to Stamford Bridge on Monday 2 February as Adi Viveash’s side host league leaders Southampton. Kick-off is at 7.05pm and tickets can be purchased online now priced at £5 for adults and £3 for concessions. OhForAGreavsie 5,253
FA Youth Cup quarter-final, away at Newcastle about to kick-off. Strong side as we'd probably expect: -Collins; Aina, Tomori, Clarke-Salter, Dasilva; Colkett, Musonda, Scott; Abraham, Solanke, Brown.Boga injured as usual.
OhForAGreavsie 5,253
5th minute: Izzy Brown misses a pen awarded after Jay Dasilva was fouled. Not enough power and too close to the keeper who saved it pretty comfortably down to his left.A clear foul although perhaps unnecessary. Jay made a great run but the byline was fast approaching and he was probably just about to run out of room when the CB clattered into him.
OhForAGreavsie 5,253
15 gone: 0-0. We're just starting to find our passes and are looking the better side. 2 or 3 nice involvements from Dom Solanke. Good to see.
