the wes 7,212
Khalid Boulahrouz wants to return to Chelsea for preseason training. After being cut loose from the Holland squad this week, the defender said: "The Sevilla chapter is now closed. I am expecting to return to Chelsea." http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=95242
Elliott 7
Don't know where he's expecting to fit in. We must surely sell him off this summer.
EskWeston 696
Yeah, bring him back!!! We need a decent Centre Back for the reserves.........and that is as close as he will get i am afraid if he comes back.
BlueLion. 21,491
I like Boulahrouz, but if he comes back here, all he'll ever be is cover. But a little extra cover is always welcome.

At the moment we are going to have at centre back to start the season: Terry, Carvalho, Alex, Ben Haim, Ivanovic, Alcides, Mancienne and Boulahrouz...... quite a bit of cover i would say

chrismada9 1,948
I'd love to know how he'll be able to be chosen over Terry, Carvalho, Alex and Ivanovic. Just won't happen I reckon he will be sold

Gianfranco_Z 202
Not good enough, tbh, if we didnt have Ivanovic or Macienne then maybe, but no.
BlueLion. 21,491
I haven't seen that much of Mancienne to be honest with you, people think he is better than Boulahrouz?
EskWeston 696
I haven't seen that much of Mancienne to be honest with you, people think he is better than Boulahrouz? Technically - yes! But experience goes in favour of Boularouz. Mancienne has similar qualities to Carvalho in the reading of the game and such. If i had to choose 1 of them to be included next season i would personally choose Mancienne.
Badboy 1,526
Mancienne also has much more pace plus he can play right back no problem.
BlueLion. 21,491
Well, to be honest, this is just yet another case of a player having a poor first season and people declaring him shit for that reason. Boula was an absolute animal for Hamburg, I remember watching a LigaPokal game a few years back and he was brilliant. I would say give him time, but I don't think he is as good as Alex, Terry or Carvalho are. Still, what happens when one of them get injured? Who will provide the cover? The inexperienced Mancienne, Ivanovic - who hasn't played club football for months? Or even Essien? Would be wise to have him as experienced cover IMO. Boularouz certainly can be a good centre back, but for me he gets caught out far too often and i think that Ivanovic and Mancienne are better options for cover. I can't see any way that he will be part of our plans for next season. Edited May 29, 2008 by EskWeston
BlueLion. 21,491
Maybe he could be used as some leverage in the transfer market. Would surely be worth around £5 million.

I would be suprised if we can use him as a makeweight in any deal, we are seemingly looking at big names from big clubs and i doubt Boularouz would interest most of them. But i am sure that we will be able to sell him on, i think there was a German club intereted in him, can't remember who now though.
Fulham Broadway 17,363
Too prone to lapses in concentration -good on his day, but couldnt be relied upon for 'big' games. Good luck to the 'cannibal'.
