Midfielder to go on loan to Scunthorpe

Recommended Posts

SCUNTHORPE United manager Nigel Adkins hopes to add a youngster from Premier League giants Chelsea to his squad in time for the start of next season. The unnamed midfielder, who is an England international, is expected to join the Iron on a long-term loan, in a similar deal to the one that brought player-of-the-year Jack Cork to Glanford Park.

"We have excellent links with Chelsea and they were delighted with how we've helped Jack Cork's development" said the United manager

"I've spoken to their Academy director, who is in charge of the under 21s and there is an opportunity a player we've talked about will join us next year on a long term loan.

"He's an England international and a midfield player. We'd like to think at the end of pre-season there will be an opportunity for him to join us.

"There's a lot of time between now and then so it's on the back boiler, but it's something we're excited about."

Not sure who this would be considering they will be League 1 next season. We usually get Championship clubs for players other than for their first loan. As an England international i would guess either Bridcutt, Sawyer, Woods or Mellis. Bridcutt has already had a loan spell at that level so may move up next season..

woods wouldn't go to play at that level wood he?

If it is a long term loan as Scunthorpe are claiming then i would say no. But as a short term loan before moving up a level like some of the other boys have done then i would say yes.
