With our roster, I really think the 4-1-4-1 will be extremely suitable, to start off the match with at least. Similar to 2012-2014 Bayern, our biggest strength is in midfield. Why not position Matic as our holding/def MF while having Cesc hazard schurrle/willian and oscar in the 4 AM positions, and of course costa as our lone striker.

If we get down a goal or are struggling to score, than we can switch to a 3-5-2 or similar?

Always baffles me as to why a lot of people put Matic on the right hand side of the double pivot with Fabregas on the left. Fabregas is right footed and Matic is left footed. They aren't wingers where they need to play on the other side to cut in. That is not their job. Matic will play as the left CM and Fabregas as the right CM. Got it?

I'm not at all sure Fabregas will play in the pivot. Can see us playing 4-3-3, 4-1-4-1 with Matic as the single pivot, or 4-2-3-1 with Cesc as #10. I'm very curious to see where Jose would use Cesc in the upcoming friendly. It should give us some clue. If Jose intends to use Fabregas-Matic pivot this season, it would make sense to try it in the pre-season match too. If he does, we'll see how well it works soon enough.

Oscar is a CAM, Schürrle have never played(and probably never will) behind the striker, he is a winger so I don't understand the comparison. Last season Willian played in the middle a couple of times and he was soo good.. I'd love to see Hazard on the left Schürrle on the right and Willian between them as long as Oscar doesn't apply himself.

Mourinho should just base his team selections on WC performances, that also means Hazard is out. Schürrle wasn't even a starter for Germany (A very good super-sub) + he played in a team that had the majority of possession each game. Such thing is not going to happen at Chelsea (in our big matches). Let players duke it out in training AND team matches and earn their places that way.
