An enjoyable game.

1st half wasn't bad at all.

Created a few chances & one very good chance that Eto'o squandered. I wouldn't have gone with Ramires on the wings, but I'm sure Mourinho has his reasons for choosing that line-up. Also thought he brought on Lewis Baker at exactly the right time. He's 17, right? That's the way to blood in youngsters imo, gradually give them minutes/opportunities until they get to a stage where they can begin to compete for a spot.

Mikel, I thought was excellent and he was the standout player for me. Apart from the goal, he made some good passes (i.e his pass for the Eto'o chance), moved the ball quickly (or quicker than he usually does) broke up play well, and his covering was excellent. Dare I say, a complete performance from him?

On to the next.

Looks like good work by the keeper to me.

Isn't it always is with Torres? It's a wonder how he keeps getting denied goals by 'remarkable goalkeeping.'

Looks like I have competition for the TalkChelsea number 1 jersey! Pipe down, Thibaut! :Goober:

I have enough game that I can play in the field too. I am a bit like Mikel. I make the simple passes :Goober: I can score the odd goal too

Mourinho is a joker, lol

It was a landmark day for John Mikel Obi, in many respects…
'I never recognise his ability to score goals!' the Portuguese laughed.

'I recognise his ability to play as an anchorman, to play that position in a very comfortable way, with no mistakes. He reads the game well, plays in an intelligent and safe way, but I never recognise his goalscoring appetite.

'There was a smile on my face [when he scored]. For some reason Essien gave him the armband, normally it should go to Ashley Cole, so maybe it made him believe he was a goalscorer!

When Bison Essien came off, the last thing he did was put the armband on Mikel. TBH, I thought this place would have a meltdown, but Mikel quieted everyone by scoring the game-winning goal :Goober: Got to agree w/ the decision of Bison Essien to put the band on Mikel. Like Jose said, it enhanced the game of Mikel.

Fuck this stupid diving when there's absolutely 0 contact -_-

Apart from that a solid performance indeed, and yet again our donkey strikers try to keep the opposition in the game.

It will really be one heck of an accomplishment if we win anything with these strikers leading our line for the rest of the season.

Can anyone tell me why Jose played Ramires on the RW? Pathetic. I know we won and all but why is he played on the wing in a 4-2-3-1? Someone better ask him this because it was fuckin pathetic.

I'm happy for the win, but I have to know wtf he was thinking. Does he know we have top class wingers on the bench? Top class ones who haven't been getting playing time either.

Looks like @Shakez was right after all about Ramires being played at RW today. Though that move did not backfire today, it's still a nonsensical one given the options that we have.

Anyway, it was good performance overall. Did alright in the first half actually. Wasn't really troubled by Derby and created some decent and arguably enough chances to be leading at least 1-0 HT but not clinical enough. Stepped it up the second half and eventually got the goals we deserved. The last few minutes was a bit dodgy but job done.

And with this 2-0 win, we have conceded just 1 goal and kept 4 clean sheets in the last 5 games in all competitions compared to letting in 9 goals and kept only 1 clean sheet in the 5 games prior to that.

There is truth to that, really. Fair point!

Rotation (Hazard-)- Economical(kdb)? Is Schurrle having an injury? Mata - dunno.

I think it was an experiment. De Bruyne looks certain to be gone in January so not worth playing him, but that does raise the question of Mata. Against a team like today's maybe he wanted a hard-working, high tempo team and maybe he doesn't think Mata can do that.

The big question is where was Schurrle?
