Mancienne - Work in Progress!

Recommended Posts

Whilst we`ve been talking up the exploits of Scott Sinclair as he enjoys the fruits of a loan spell at Crystal Palace, we shouldn`t forget the fortunes of another of our youngsters out on loan, Michael Mancienne.

The defender, now twenty years of age, has been at our near neighbours Queens Park Rangers for the best part of two seasons. During that time he has played almost sixty games for Queens Park Rangers gainin valuable experience.

The young defender has played at every international level for England up to and including the U21 side and is tipped by many to be a top class defender.

Indeed, our 1997 FA Cup winning hero, Eddie Newton, talking to Radio London, had this to say about Mancienne,

"He is a quality defender. I feel he`s ready to train day-in day-out with the stars and develop in training."

"He can get some games under his belt. When the time comes, maybe due to injuries or suspensions, he`ll be able to step in and do a good job."

However, the big question is will Mancienne be prepared to wait?

As a regular at Queens Park Rangers he has become used to first team football and with the Loftus Road club now awash with cash there is every possibility that the owners of the Shepherds Bush outfit might see Mancienne as a purchase that could help propel then towards the Premier League in the next two or three seasons.

Therefore, we here at Vital Chelsea suggest that the future of Michael Mancienne, whilst looking rosy, could be either in our own blue or the hooped shirts of our local rivals.

Stay at Chelsea ! He is described as the next Terry. We need a manager who can accomodate a young player. We should consider him as a first-team central defender and not buy central defenders while ignoring him.

The same goes about Sinclair. Home-grown future stars must be integrated to the first-team otherwise the future of the club will be sold.
