Chelsea are leading the race for England Under 21 defender Eric Dier.

The 19-year-old was a regular for Sporting last season but has a £4.2million buy-out clause.

He's also a target for Spurs and Fulham.

He had a loan spell at Everton that didn't work out.. he's been at Sporting for 9 years so that makes him eligable to play for Portugal if he wanted to.

He also speaks fluent Portuguese so team talks with Mourinho wouldn't be a problem for him at all. Talent wise.. I read that he was meant to be the next Tony Adams..

a loanee at best anyway.. he'd never shift Luiz, Cahill or Ivanovic.. not at 19 years. Maybe the long-term replacement for Terry? Who knows!

Don't think it didn't work out, we just couldn't afford him.

It was only a youth academy loan as well, Sa there was no intention of playing him in the first team squad.
