Luiz may have gone a tad OTT today but are you suddenly saying that he's not calm because of this one incident? Generally, he's not a volatile or an angry person to berate a referee every time. And really, don't think we should suddenly act as if every captain should be cool, calm and collected at all times on the pitch especially with the high stakes out there on the pitch. Generally they should but there will be times where the players react angrily to referee particularly when they see the amount of decisions that we should have gotten but didn't. Moreover, every captain, at every club will react and/or respond angrily to a referee at one point or another in their career, like it or not. Even here, the likes of Terry, Lampard and Drogba have all reacted angrily a referee before and I don't see anyone then saying they shoudn't be captain of the club. To say Luiz should not be a captain because of this one particularly incident, when he's generally a calm person, is just non-sensical.

It was a stupid yellow card to pick up. Did you see other players arguing with the ref? I mean, yes, Webb was giving some decisions to United but it was nothing major. Nothing in Chelsea's half. This was not "tad ott", this was waaay over the top

edit: @, Even FA Cup semi, he went after the ref after Bertrand's tackle. That was not over the top but still, he is not the "generally calm" person you're making him out to be. This is not an isolated incident. Luiz was the newcomer in the last 2 seasons but slowly he's working his way up the Chelsea ranks and now there have been more and more incidents involving Luiz. I love the passion but if he was calm, nobody would be hailing his passion and commitment.

Watching that goal again, could say 'FINALLY!' after Mata actually take a shot at goal as opposed to just pass pass pass and killing any chance to trouble United's goal.

Well that was a massive result. We were the better side throughout the 90 minutes but had little to show for it until we brought Torres on and played a desperate 4-2-4. That was just another problem that we've seen too much this season, when we're in attack our players just hesitate way too much for the final ball and as a result it all ends up being too slow. However, this immediately changed when we took Moses off (who was the biggest offender of poor finishing) and brought on another striker. Credit to Rafa for this move, as right after the sub, Mata had a golden opportunity to score from a cross, which, in addition to the goal, just showed that this change worked wonders (United's back four now had two strikers to worry about, sort of like the FA Cup Semi).

The refereeing was an atrocity throughout, well too many shitty decisions, but whatever, what else do you expect from Howard Webb? Good decision by him though to not blow the whistle for Shrek's dive right before the goal, no way that was ever a foul. As for Luiz and Rafael, it was pretty silly for Luiz to stay on the ground laughing, but since we can't be absolutely sure of his intentions/thoughts there, I won't say anything about it. Clear red though for the intent.

Overall, our finishing was terribly frustrating up until the goal, but who cares, that was just what we needed. Bring on the Spuds :cfc:
