Scunthorpe's Cork unsure of Chelsea future

tribalfooball.com - April 08, 2008

Scunthorpe loanee Jack Cork does not know what his future holds when he returns to Chelsea at the end of the season.

Cork has done very well during his loan spell at Glanford Park this term, making 30 starts and two substitute appearances and scoring two goals.

But the 18-year-old, son of former Wimbledon striker Alan, faces an uncertain future when he returns to Stamford Bridge.

He told Scunthorpe's official website: "I've not really thought about next season.

"When my loan finishes here I'll go back to Chelsea and I think there will be some tournaments for me to play in for the Under 19s.

"I want to see what happens in pre-season. Breaking into the first team would be the best situation, but you don't see many players coming through into Chelsea's first team as there's a lot of pressure on the manager to keep winning.

"This loan spell has really helped me, both mentally and physically. I'm doing a lot of stuff with John (Noonan, the club's strength and conditioning coach) in the gym. It's really helped me as a person and a footballer.

"I've also had the chance to play against some big players like Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink - I used to see him play when I was a ball boy at Chelsea, so to play against him was quite a big thing for me."

I would be suprised if he was released in the summer. It could be the case that there will be another loan probably at a bigger club. The fact that he has done so well means that it is unlikely he will be realeased i am sure!!
