Tomo 21,751
After spending the last few days catching up on matches when i was away and looking at some match reports from those games on here, i am a bit surprised to see some pessimism about our long term future. Results have been inconsistent this season, after letting experience go and signing all under 23's players in the summer, it is too be expected that the results will not be all there. One game we will perform below par at home to QPR then we will go to one of the hardest ground's in the country like The Brittania and smash Stoke all over the pitch. The best we could have hoped for this season was 3rd, with a couple of cups on the side, we have a big chance of doing just that now which will set us up nicely for next season and beyond.Make no mistake, the potential of this team is huge, our 8-0 win over Villa, 4-0 win over Stoke, the first half against Arsenal at home and the way we swarmed all over United in both FA Cup games are the prime examples of just how great this group can become. This is not 2010/2011, were we were stagnating with ageing players, we are a young team with inconsistencies and will only get better. You could say, well Arsenal said they had a great young team that never materialized and yes that is true but Arsenal used that line for 5-6 years, we will need to see genuine progression in the squad starting in the summer. But all we need is a bit more balance in the side, Khedira would be the perfect signing if the rum-ours he wants to follow Mourinho is true, not to mention the outstanding players we have out on loan. This season has been frustrating with inconsistent results and performance, but aslong as we get it right this summer and beyond we will be treated to an unbelievable team for many years to come. Term-X 7,891
The raw materials are there 'for the most part', both in the squad and out on loan. Although, as stated.. the pivot needs an overhaul, same for centre back imo. We will have a new manager come summer, but the staff need re-evaluating too, Zenden doesn't have coaching badges.. how was this allowed to happen?. Tomo 21,751
Zenden doesn't have coaching badges.. how was this allowed to happen?.I was thinking that, would have made sense to keep Newton there, especially as he stayed at the club anyway. bababoom 4,478
I doubt Zenden will be staying, he'll be going along with Rafa.
Term-X 7,891
Just the fact he's at the club now is insane though. His official title is even more baffling 'assistant first team coach'... he has a hands on role, involved in everything, and this is his first non-playing position at ANY club.Where did it go wrong...
