Fernando Torres

Now that we have Ba and after he scored 2 goals on his debut, lets see if Torres can respond in a positive manner the next time he plays(not getting my hopes up in any way!). If he doesn't relish the competition and continues to sulk on the pitch, then he really really REALLY needs to go!!!

Alright, Nando, so now you've got some serious competition and you won't be an automatic starter anymore, so one last chance to get in a good goalscoring form and manage to keep it through the season or get used to life on the bench.

Without Suarez Liverpool would be 16th, not 8th. Without RvP Man Utd would be 11th, not 1st. Without Torres Chelsea would still be 4th.

Indeed. ManUre are nothing special. They are so reliant on Van Persie its laughable. If we had Ba from the start of the season we'd be at least 2nd.

Seriously it makes sense considering we play Stoke away the 12th, Ba has a bit of history with Stoke and is more suited to their game.

Considering we can now pick the striker depending od the opposition that's rather a good thing to rotate. Not sure who'll start on Wednesday but Ba has every chances to start at Stoke

Agree that Ba should start against Stoke, but I honestly that he would. Frenando is still seen by the management as our number 1 striker, imo.

The hierarchy stuff is really overrated. It may have played a part in the fact no big name arrived last summer...

But if Sturridge left that's because of Di Matteo's awful management, not because of Roman or whoever.

At the end of the day Torres playing so much was rather a consequence of Di Matteo having fucked up the only other option left. Daily Fail pretended it was Roman's instruction. They also almost pretended Torres punched Holland, why nobody is trusting that?

Yes, the way the board fielded the team was wrong for a full season but in most clubs especially in England, managers are supposed to train what they are put at their disposal, not pick their players.

Di Matteo was sacked because of the way he handled the small squad he had at his disposal, he wasn't blamed for the squad being small.

Still I agree that Roman's alleged view to expect things from managers with a limited squad before giving them full confidence is a bit weird.

Hang on just a sec, how the fuck do you know if any of that is true?, you're going mad at Abramovich and such and saying people are stupid, yet you don't know yourself.

It's really a stupid thing to comment on because we simply do not know what happens. Maybe the board wanted Di Matteo to play Torres over Sturridge to show Sturridge who is boss, though it could be unlogical as it was his last year on his contract, but lets face it you can't put it past our board.

No one knows what goes on in the background.

Fact is that our Board was in charge of transfers - not RDM.

They loaned Lukaku, they didn't do enough to keep Drogba, they released Kalou and sold off Anelka.

Right now we should have had Lukaku; Sturridge and Ba getting regular playing - who combined would have similar wages to Fernando Torres. Fact is that Lukaku pushed on for his loan move due to obviously being told he would not be getting enough playing time to develop. It's also a fact that Sturridge was fit for 14 matches this season for CFC and started TWO - the only match he started up top instead of Torres, Torres was banned for.

Reading between the lines it's obvious that no manager would be happy to start of the season with two strikers, one of which went 24 hours without the goal just 6 months prior to this season and the other untested up top for CFC.

The board didn't do enough to sign another striker in the summer and trusted Torres, here is what our Board said after our CL triumph:

"We've got Fernando Torres," Gourlay told reporters on Wednesday. "And Fernando Torres is the man that we will go forward with and Fernando Torres will score us the goals.

"We have no doubt that Fernando Torres is a world-class centre-forward and Fernando Torres will score goals for Chelsea.

"I'm not worried about Fernando at all. We've just won the Champions League and Fernando Torres played his part in that.

"It's not all about goals. It's not just about the individual scoring goals but also his teamwork. He is a very, very important player. And I think you will see Fernando Torres score many goals for Chelsea."
