Stop standing up for him Beirut it's really annoying because what he did was so clear. We have basically signed a squad full of playmakers to help this guy score and to play well but he seems to think it will come to him on a plate without him working hard. He keeps running into 3 defenders and loses the ball constantly, he then walks around the pitch not even bothering to close the space. The guy doesn't get involved in the game and that is hard to take for a club that has had Drogba for the last 8 years (probably only Tevez compares with Drogba when it comes to getting involved in the game as a striker) you must understand. No Chelsea striker has ever had as much support as Torres has when it comes to the bleeding management not signing a striker because they know he'll pooh his pants at any sign of competition. The supporters have given him support constantly since he arrived and the players around him are working like dogs to put it on a plate for him but what can you do when you have a striker that isn't moving off the ball and breaking his neck to get on the end of things ?

I don't know what has been said, not bothered to read all the pages i missed but it's unacceptable the way he reacted to being subbed off.

He has fucking played every game this season and has finished most, one time he gets subbed - in a game where nothing was going his way - and he throws a fit.

he was just frustrated with the ref for not giving him any freekicks when he felt he had been fouled and the fact he knew he hadn't played well, it was just pure frustration nothing more.

A second before Cole hoofed it up to Torres at the Nou Camp, Bosingwa off all people made a interception that prevented two Barca players going one on one against Cech.

Had Bosingwa not made that interception Torres would have cost us by losing the ball 25 yards from his own goal and Robbie would be lambusted to this day for taking Didier off.

Luckily Torres made up for it in the ultimate fashion.

That striker who scored is WORTH IT, because he got that goal, that's the point. Exactly, every player who played contributed in some little way or another, maybe even the yellow cards at the Nou Camp. Ramires's adrenaline must have been pumping after getting a yellow and missing the final, could it have been that that made him go on that mad run and score for us seconds later?

But yeah it is naive to say Torres made no contribution's.

Personally i think the group stage struggles played a huge part in winning it for us, a close shave so early on gave the players a kick up the backside which imo made them fight like dogs from the Valencia game onwards.

If Torres was getting chance after chance for us and still missing (to be fair to the nay-sayers, he has missed multiple opportunities in certain matches in the past) I would really have to agree that we should cut our losses, but I dont feel he has.

Against QPR I don't remember him really having anything go his way, there was one chance that he made for himself where he worked Cesar, and other than that nothing. I feel that RDM went waaaaaaaaayyyyy too defensive in that match, it was crying out for an Oscar start and we got 2 defensive wingers instead, against QPR.

I'm getting tired of this discussion but I just don't get this POV. Torres hasn't had great service with Chelsea but if a striker needs to get the ball at his feet in front of net to score, he's not very good. Many many players can score if you give them excellent service. What makes a top striker is the ability to put those chances away, the ability to get himself into great positions to get those easy chances,and also to create their own chances. Torres has been poor at all three aspects.

Totally agree. The argument that a striker is not performing because goals are not laid on a plate for him is frankly pathetic. I'm sure even Mikel could score too if he was passed the ball right in front of goal. Torres' movement needs to improve in order for him to get better opportunities, I'd prefer it if he implemented more passing movements as he did against Newcastle rather than trying to take on players which frequently results in lost possession.

The only time the service excuse has been valid was his first six months, complaining about lack of service with Juan Mata behind you is Iniesta complaining about lack of adrenaline just after he scored the winner in the World Cup final.

What also does my head in is the fact he thinks he deserves to be given number one role without competition. Being put on the bench for two cup final's last term should have made him determined to make sure it doesn't happen again with performances on the pitch. Yet RDM came and pandered to him on the plane home from Munich when he should have been celebrating.

As some know i have recently been accepted to go on a trip to Costa Rica next year. Had i been turned down it would have made me even more determined to go back next year and prove they made a mistake by working to get back on.

I know it's 2 complete different thing's but the same principle at the end of the day.

No you are wrong. He's Fernando Torres so logic and good sense doesn't apply. He can't do any wrong. If he is playing badly it must be because of the players around him! When he is invisible for 90 minutes it must be because he didn't get any service and not because he was lazy and has no way of creating chances for himself! Leave Torres alone it is not his fault. Stop attacking him, it's RDM's fault, or our midfields fault, or the referees fault...anybody but him.

I'm all for constructive criticism but when it comes to Torres its either people "blindly" sticking up for him, or people who slate him for every little thing.

He's certainly at fault for poor perfomances at times, just like RDM can be at fault for a poor team performance, but it's not always his fault if he has a poor game, just like it isn't always RDM's fault if we play poorly in general.
