  1. 1. Who should be the next Chelsea captain after JT retires?

Seeing the discussion about our new captain, and the arguments of each of you, with which I agree in a big part; I see how big will be the hollow that will leave Terry when he leave the team. Is a amazing player and I will miss him as that, but even more as captain and leader.

Will be difficult, If not impossible, find some captain like him.

As of right now, Cesar is the only suitable option if we're thinking long-term. He's part of the new generation, he's been here from the beginning of this new generation, he's a starter + one of our best players, he's fighting on the pitch, he has charisma, and judging by the off-pitch pictures he's a well liked member of the team that seems to be able to bond with anyone.

Captains in football barely do anything, it is more of an honour than anything. A leader is going to lead regardless of the armband. This isn't cricket where the captain actually has an important job.

True to a certain extent in cricket the captain lives and dies by his on field tactical decisions. In football the captain is more of a figurehead for the club as a whole.

Gotta be Eden, surely? You usually give the armband to your best player more often than not, Hazard represents our future and passing of the guard so to speak. It would be a fitting and help Hazard's maturity grow.

I dunno.. I feel like Fabregas has the more fitting personality for this role.

Cesc would be the best captain but for a long term solution (which I think we should go for, maybe with Cesc VC and Ivan/Cahill 3rd Captain to help them out) for me it's a choice between Azpi, Courtois and Matic. Of those 3 I think the best option is Azpi for the same reasons as Amels outlined above.

He hasnt got the personality to do it. Same goes with Tebo. It takes someone that all the lads trust, respect and would get behind. Someone that can give players a pat on the head or a kick up the arse to wake up.

No, the armband should and usually does go to the best leader, not the best player.

Not to say that Eden isn't that man, but one's amount of goals/clean sheets/tackles etc. is only part of the equation when picking a captain.

Terry didn't play in the first half against NY Red Bulls while Fabregas did but the captain armband wasn't given to him. Ivanovic got it instead.

Probably doesn't mean much though...
