Hello everyone. Been reading your posts just out of curiosity, being a Juventus fan. One thing I find interesting. Nobody seems to be mentioning the fact that you need just a draw tomorrow night (I give you three points vs Nordsjelland as granted). Typical English spirit. All my admiration for you. In italy we tend to think about the math far too much. For instance, if a draw comes out tomorrow night, Juventus would still have a chance to go through by winning in Ukraine. I just hope ths will not invade juventus players' mind if the result is something like 1-1 and 15' minutes to go. Winning in Ukraine could prove far too difficult for just about anyone

I think most of us want the three points as we want to finish first in the group and get an easier opponent! I'd take qualification in second place but if the team gets a team like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund etc then we could have a very slim chance of going through.

You will hardly finish first in the group since you're behind Shaktar (the Ukrains are ahead of Chelsea in the 4-4 aggregate thanks to away goals).

Plus, if you beat us, we're out. So don't expect us to do you any favour in the final match in Donetsk :-)

ps

The way the groups are developing, it looks like this year won't make much of a difference being first or second.

I suppose that last part is true about the groups. Some teams have had up and down results. Like Real Madrid. I think its mathematically possible that we can still finish top of the group so hopefully two wins from two would put us there (depending on Shaktar though)!

Not entirely true. If Shaktar draws with Nordsjaelland and you beat Shaktar, then you are through. But of course your chances to advance if you lose to Chelsea are quite minimal, but anything can happen.

----------cech--------

Azpi---Iva---cahill---Cole

-------mikel----oscar------

Ramires------Mata-------Hazard/moses(sub)

-----------Sturridge/Torres(sub)--------

That formation is just bloody dumb. Again Ramires as RW? When we know how terrible he is there?

Ramires - Mikel

Moses - Oscar - Mata

When it worked last season did you complain? Juve have very effective wing backs this is what's best since they need the win more than we do. Any other set up (esp offensive one) means we will be SLAUGHTERED and moreover with this formation we still hve our three creative players on.

Eh.. we had a totally different team then.

Moses is 10x better on the right wing. Why not use a WINGER on the wing now that we have one? And if we want to play more defensively we dont have to play players out of position. Bertrand usually does a decent job offensively and a great job defensively on the wing, he could be an option even if he hasnt been that great lately. Playing another formation is also an option.

However, playing players out of position is just dumb now that we dont need to.

Mikel

Ramires - Oscar

Moses----------Mata

Sturridge

That is a bit more defensive.

Latest news from Turin. Vucinic has been training today. He's available for the match. This said, we'll probably know who's playing up front only within minutes from the start. The rest of the team will probably show no surprise. Tough game ahead. Should be a good one to watch. Cheers folks!

Your basis for selection are flawed. You talk about playing players out of position yet you mention bertrand of which he has never had any use offensively unlike ramires who is also by far more experienced and proven. Ramires on the right can nullify asamoah(whereas bert plays on d left) and ramires won't be playing offensively except the opportuniy presents itself (there is no point using moses if he is not being played as a winger but to man mark asamoah). Hazard is not in your team that's just nonsense hazard is our best counter attacking player along with ramires, mata and they both provide immense energy to the team so there is no way they are not starting. Mikel and oscar in the pivots because they are the best in possession technically. We don't want ramires loosing possession or making inaccurate passes in the middle of the field in this high pressure match.

Having said this iam not arguing with you but Rdm used a similar formation against shakhtar away and juve at home... I think he will do something similar especially in the absence of experienced players like lamps. and terry he must go defensive.

Maybe you didnt notice that i didnt include bertrand in the formation?

But I still retain that you dont have to play players out of position to play more defensively. Playing another formation and tactic could be enough, and play another player (like Moses perhaps). Plus, by playing Ramires on the RW we take a huge blow offensively because there is a huge differance in Ramires' efficency on the RW and centrally.
