manager

  1. 1. if we have an unsuccessful season who should be manager for the next one?

    • RdM needs at least two full seasons, he will come good
    • Bring in Guardiola, he's the right man
    • Mourinho, we need a big name that everyone will respect

we was half expecting Roman to be on the phone with Guardiola at FT if we had drawn yesterday.. and the season would've likely been regarded as a failure

begs the question though, how do you feel about RdM's future as manager? will this be the turning point where we go on and mount a decent CL campaign and try to go for the PL title?

what if by May we havent won nothing, will he be given more time? he's definitely under more pressure than most seeing as he was never first choice for manager, obviously the ultimate success last season eased that pressure going forward.

obviously this is all hypothetical and hopefully the club will go on to have a very good season but..

Seriously? Had we drawn yesterday we would be a point of the lead in the prem, in the last 8 of the league cup, and still in the champions league, just having to get a result at Juve.

Also every manager is under serious pressure when they are manager of chelsea. Avram grant was a width of the post away from leading us to champions league glory yet he still got the sack. It is the nature of the beast.

My one critisicm of RDM this season is that he hasnt been proactive enough in making the strategic changes that are perhaps needed and instead has been reactive. But we still can't complain in what is a rebuilding year.

why, are we not allowed to future scenarios, whether likely or unlikely?

Were we doing these 'future scenarios' in Mourinho's era here?

If were going to look at 'future scenarios' maybe i should do a poll on who our replacement for Hazard will be on the off chance he signs for Madrid.

Right now Robbie is our manager as he is doing fine.

maybe it's all been smooth sailing in the eyes of some but a few of us have seen some warning signs

I think the main point here mate, is that we have all seen some of the problems we have been having. But can you really blame a misfiring torres on rdm, who has shown him complete faith? Can you blame RDM for some bad individual performances? Maybe on some level in terms of tactics, but you can't just chuck everything on the manager, when some things are going wrong.

Also, why does it say "rdm needs 2 full seasons, he will come good", we have already won the double last season and in all the big competitions this year. He has done a lot, and yes some can argue his role in it, but however you want to look at it, he has been good, even if there are some things that not everyone (me included) agrees with.

Firstly, I think Guardiola's phone is off while he's in Abu Dhabi at Sheikh Mansour's palace.

As for di Matteo, I think he's done well from the end of last season until now where he's brought in some exceptional talent, hence presenting the blueprints for the club's future.

I don't think we can be criticized much as of yet because our only loss of the season had been influenced by controversial decisions, rather than by tactical errors in the team.

If people were put off by the fact that we almost lost some points to Shakhtar at home, well be sure you will all see Shakhtar in the knock-outs and notice what they will do against other big teams - from the way they're playing and their form (which has been for over 30 games, wow!), I would put them up there with us, United, Barca, Madrid, and Bayern.

I could have gone a little off topic with the above, but frankly I think this whole thread is off topic at the moment.."what if by May we haven't won nothing?" oh plz.

What do you mean "he will come good" He's won us the champions league last season and were second in the table and still in all the cups. Give the guy a ten year contract nothing less. Some Chelsea fans now a days will never ever be satisfied unless we win every game/trophy we contest.

I expect nothing more then a comfortable top3 finish, last 8 in CL and winning CC or FA.However I expect from RDM to solve our game problems :

1.The defense is shaky.

2.To stop the ridiculous defensive approach, its abviously not working.(unless we are playing against Barca, Real)And to stop making subs like Oscar for Bertrand.

3.To solve the Torres tumor.

havent said one word of critiscism against RdM but you guys are very quick to jump on me like I had. maybe the wording "he will come good" was a bit wrong, seeing as he has already brought success to the club. I believe he's a good manager but in my eyes it remains to be seen if he's a great one. whereas Mourinho is world class and Guardiola most likely is too (doesnt necessarily mean either is right for Chelsea at the moment).

my reasoning for making the thread was...had we drawn or even lost yesterday the situation would've been completely different. as it stands a draw would be a top result away in Torino, can you imagine having to go there under the pressure of having to win?

always support whoever's in charge but I digress, maybe we should not discuss RdM's future at the club until the season is over..
