It is also not a coincidence that Bertrand performed tonight like Cole performed the last few matches. Sheva. 5,373 Posted November 7, 2012 Share Posted November 7, 2012 Im starting to view Cahill and Luiz starting together with the same amount of dread that filled me when Bosingwa was on the team sheet.They don't work, both are fine with Terry but as a partnership i haven't seen a worse one in my near 2 decades of supporting this club. Torres was as frustrating as he gets even though he scored. Oscar seemed to get a little tired before being subbed off and mata played great but really it seemed as if every time hazard was on the ball we would get a free kick.Another encouraging game for the future. Can't wait to see this team playing with a proper striker and a proper relay in front of the defense although I thought Mikel did great tonight. It almost feels as if our new style of play inspires him to get a bit more adventurous in the final third which I think is great when we play Ramires with him.Great spirit from the team also, I thought it would be hard to get back into it without Terry and at times I really felt like we would lose this one because of some worryingly awkward plays by our defenders but still the future is looking bright. Willian looks class.A win of champions, didn't play to the best of our ability but still managed a win.Shakhtar are a really good team. And we inflicted the first defeat on Shakhtar in 37 competitive matches(W35 D2) since they last lost, to Porto in November 2011.We now sit second in the group, on level points with Shakhtar and 1 ahead of Juventus.Some may ask why we are in second when we have better GD than Shakhtar. Tomo 21,751 Posted November 7, 2012 Share Posted November 7, 2012 Once again most of the mistakes by Luiz.They both don't fill me with confidence together our concession stats when their alonside one another are terrifying, in future we have to play Terry or Ivanovic alongside Cahill or Luiz for the right balance because the Englishman and the Serb don't do great together in centre half as a partnership either.
