Lol thats coming from a Dutch person? Your national team is full of egos. We saw how bad they were in the Euros mate.

You're a footballing nation with a population of 60 million plus and you've still only won the same amount of international tournaments as us. What are you talking about barring we got to the world cup final only 2 years ago and we should of won it. The only world cup final you've been too is one in 1966 were you completely robbed the Germans and you've been getting your behind kicked by the German's ever since cause your shit.

I usually keep away from commenting on foreign national teams, but Terry did right to nicely say fuck of to FA of after all they did. It's a shame to have a Chelsea player less in England squad but it will definitely help his fitness and form.

Marcel Desailly has lambasted the Football Association after John Terry announced his retirement from international football.

The Frenchman, 44, spent six years at Stamford Bridge after joining in 1998 - the same year Terry made his debut for the club.

Desailly has now issued firm backing to his former protege and insists the FA has made a real mess of the situation.

Terry stood down from international duty on Sunday evening, just hours before the FA started the disciplinary hearing against the Chelsea man as he answers allegations that he racially abused QPR defender Anton Ferdinand during a Premier League game at Loftus Road last October.

The 31-year-old had already been found not guilty of the same offence at Westminster Magistrates Court two months ago, but the FA pursued its own charge which was the main cause of Terry's decision to quit.

And Desailly has fully backed Terry, telling France's Sport24: "I'm disappointed for John since he is a quality player who knows the highest level.

"It is a complicated story. It's not just 'I no longer want to'. This is a larger problem with the Football Association

"It is also a way for him to protect himself. You must remember that at Chelsea, players past 30 years of age can only sign contracts for one year.

At 31 years of age, John perhaps wants to protect his future as a footballer and try to get himself an extension of two years."

Desailly is also adamant that current England captain Steven Gerrard is not capable of replacing Terry.

He added: "The English team loses a lot. John is a leader. He is the captain, Steven Gerrard is not.

"Gerrard is a soloist, a great player but has no impact off the field. In the life of the group, the leader is John Terry."

Well least he cant get moaned about for orgainsing the defence on the pitch...and people going on how we should now recall Rio..I bloody hope not!Move forward he is shite!

Its an early England exit from every tournament if Rio 'Plug from the Bash Street kids' Ferdiand has the central defence role.

He was run ragged by the Yids yesterday. Appalling

Ferdinand is garbage. Hope he gets recalled to the English national side and they get destroyed quite a few times so the Pathetic non-Chelsea England fans will realise that Terry has carried that defense, along with Cole. Soon it will be Cahill carrying that defense.

Love in the Mail they wrote about how hard it'll be for Hodgson to choose Terry now...he's retired!!!! Dont think be that hard somehow

Even if Rio did come back, wouldnt be Captain,is a bit shite so doubt played to often in no doubt within a year or so be dropped altogether so bit pointless reallyJust showing why he should've been dropped for footballling reasons

Ferdinand has "won" the right to humiliate himself. Guess he'll have to resort to drugs again once he realizes he's just a overhyped has been. I don't even think Hodgson is going to recall RioFerdy, he did prefer Martin Kelly over him.

  • 3 months later...

JT was a great servant for England, would put his neck on the line for England.

His dream was always to play for his country and he achieved that.It was a sad way for it to end,but he couldn't have given anymore.
