TacticalBlues 2,817
The UEFA Club Financial Control Body's (CFCB) investigatory chamber, chaired by former Belgian Prime Minister Jean-Luc Dehaene, has today announced that 23 clubs involved in 2012/13 UEFA club competitions have seen the payment of their prize money temporarily withheld pending further investigation. As part of the first measure of the financial fair play requirements included in the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations 2012, the clubs participating in 2012/13 UEFA club competitions had to provide information regarding the status of any overdue payables as at 30 June 2012. Following its last meeting in August 2012, the CFCB investigatory chamber has identified that important overdue payables towards other clubs, and/or towards employees or social/tax authorities existed in 23 cases. These cases involve the following 23 clubs:FK Borac Banja Luka (BIH)FK Sarajevo (BIH)FK Željezničar (BIH)PFC CSKA Sofia (BUL)HNK Hajduk Split (CRO)NK Osijek (CRO)Club Atlético de Madrid (ESP) (certainly paves the way for a Falcao deal in January?)Málaga CF (ESP)Maccabi Netanya FC (ISR)FK Shkendija 79 (MKD)Floriana FC (MLT)FK Budućnost Podgorica (MNE)FK Rudar Pjevlja (MNE)Ruch Chorzów (POL)Sporting Clube de Portugal (POR)FC Dinamo Bucureşti (ROU)FC Rapid Bucureşti (ROU)FC Vaslui (ROU)FC Rubin Kazan (RUS)FK Partizan (SRB)FK Vojvodina (SRB)Eskişehirspor (TUR)Fenerbahçe SK (TUR)Consequently, the CFCB investigatory chamber will continue their investigations and request these clubs to provide an updated situation as of 30 September 2012 with regards to overdue payables towards other clubs, employees and social/tax authorities. This conservatory measure will remain into force until all identified balances have been settled in full or until a final decision by the CFCB adjudicatory chamber is taken.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Chelsea, as expected, meet the requirements and evade these elusive punishments. Verses 7
Wow; serious business. I'd imagine they'd HAVE to sell Falcao now, right? But that doesn't mean we'd definately get him
Jase 43,479
IF we get Falcao because of the financial problems Atletico Madrid are facing with UEFA, then we should go thank Pinto da Costa for that.
Justin_3d 1,140
Yeah but people don't make money in the EL, so why they should care about meeting any of that nonsense? Is the CL the one you want to be in and should take care of yourself for that.So if teams like A. Madrid think they can make CL, then I guess yes, they will need to cut expenses.
capriccioso 2,545
So, they pinched the clubs that were too small to make a dent in their TV revenues, and were too honest to cheat their way out of it.I'm still convinced when one of the big hitters gets into trouble it'll be quashed/the owner will ensure that they don't look like they're in trouble.Edit: I see headlines floating about like 'UEFA gets tough on FFP' and other sensationalised headlines to that effect. Which confirms to me that this was a PR stunt. Make it look like you're doing something, send out a message, and then do nothing for months/years. If anyone asks, all they have to say is 'We suspended 23 clubs, some of them huge clubs such as Europa League holders Atletico Madrid' etc. It'll get Platini what he wants, ascendancy to the president's chair at FIFA. capriccioso 2,545
Also as far as Falcao goes, the transfer will be to the highest bidder. They will play hardball with him as he doesn't earn an unsustainably high amount (for his output, anyway), and if they're cash strapped they'll need more than usual to replace him. This isn't necessarily good news from our perspective, instead of 40-45 million we'll probably have to stump up something in excess of 50 million. They'll want at least 15 or so to spend on a replacement and I imagine the 35 will go straight into servicing debt so they can show UEFA that they have 'progressed', thus permitting them back into UEFA competition. It's either sink or swim.
warnie_666 1,081
Do we seriously think UEFA is going to punish big clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, and others over FFP? The amount of revenue UEFA gets from having these teams in the Champions League is unreal. You ban any of these top 8 clubs and the revenue is likely to drop as star players from those respective teams wont be performing and it affects marketing, ads, and tv revenue big time. Its a cycle and UEFA knows they cant break it. Hence they are taking actions against these small clubs.

But if Torres has 20 goals by then, then I am not sure if we need him.
Danelka 209
I'm sure that lots of big-mouth United/Arsenal/Bayern/whatever fan, without any proper knowledge about the FFP, after not seeing either us, PSG, or City there, are already whining and bitching about how we cheated ourselves out of this.. lengthwise 17
yeah, I have a hard time seeing UEFA drop the hammer on the elite clubs, will hurt UEFA's pocket too much, curious to see how this unfolds.Bring on Falcao
We Hate Scouse 10,327
Goes to show what complete clowns run UEFA. These clubs are struggling with money, that's the reason that they are in this situation. The probably have huge relief that they will be getting some money after each game etc. and it will probably help them massively. Yet UEFA feel the need to withhold prize money? You really couldn't make it up. Utter clowns.

We Hate Scouse 10,327
So what punishment would you hand out then? It's pretty ridiculous....You don't have enough money, so we're going to take money off you. It's a ridiculously unfair and flawed system, they either need to change it massively or completely throw it out. It is designed to help clubs and stop clubs going under, but if they carry on like this they will destroy more clubs than they are saving. Utter clowns. Its even worse when you consider that all but 2 Spanish clubs earn a pittance compared to even relegation battlers in other leagues like the Bundesliga or the Premier League. They have literally no chance of ever 'moving progressively' with their debt. If they do that then they will be spending so little on their players, they'll be packed full of random journeymen, youth and other shit players. They'll be awful in Europe, the whipping boys in every group stage of the CL they qualify for.

Naked Mole Rat 437
Problem: A team is financially struggling because it isn't popular enough and doesn't generate enough revenue.Solution: Cancel the prize money the club was due and possibly even prohibit it from participating in the competitions in the future. That will teach them a lesson.
