Milan 17,959
Just saw this bit of news in our press, confirmed by the doc.Petr has been having long-term problems with his elbow so Chelsea FC asked our national team not to call him for friendly games planned for this year. We agreed so Petr will not feature in the Tuesday's game and in following international friendly matches. And after the season, Petr will undergo a surgery.Petr said - 'My arm is injured, it's been some time now. I will miss the following game so I can recover more quickly.'His doc said - 'There's a little ossification in his elbow, after this season he will undergo a surgery in England. He can't fully stretch out his arm. If he does so, it hurts. However, there is nothing that could make the conditition of his elbow worse. Is the surgery urgent? Only in case the soreness is much worse or the elbow would be blocked somehow.'

Melanicus 5,208
Čech won't play as long as other goalkeepers into their late 30's, because of all this injuries.
capriccioso 2,545
He should still easily make it to 35.Doing a van der Sar and going onto 40 isn't possible though Can we bring Bryan English back? He's brilliant with blood spinning, might help with Petr's pain killing for the rest of the season.

Milan 17,959
The thing is he can't fully stretch out his arm. If he does so, he is in pain. I know he is a pro but might this be the reason why, sometimes, he just stands and doesn't 'go' for the ball? Last season there a few goals like this - of course, some beautifl shots but there were some questions on here. He's been in pain for months. Spike 12,049
I think he has at least until 32 to give up the gloves.
xPetrCechx 13,571
In the end of the season? so it will not affect chelsea.
magic weeds 446
so Chelsea's timing on the Courtois loan is a well planned thing. So we expect to have him at the Bridge next season.
Rowan_Osborn 58
Nearly freak out when I saw the thread title till I read "(after the season)". Pheew...Im still slightly worried. If he can't stretch his arm out properly surely this will effect his ability as a goalkeeper?
Jype 6,398
In the end of the season? so it will not affect chelsea.Sure it does. If he's constantly in pain while playing, it is bound to affect his game at some level when he can't always give his 100% performance because he's scared of hurting himself. Also, depending on how major the surgery will be, it could easily affect our preparation for the next season.
gary gordon 1,777
So he made two Champions League winning saves with an arm injury?? Legend...
capriccioso 2,545
No need to worry. We'll give him painkillers before the start of every match and he should be fine.We have to go easy on him in training though. He should do fewer hours. The Skipper 20,609
He's been injured for a long time, the club have started handling it a long time ago. It's not a recent thing.

termninja 5,290
Should have been kept under the radar imo. No need for people to know Big Pete has injuries problems...No matter, I feel much more relaxed when we have Courtois...
Tomo 21,751
I don't think Cech has got that long left sadly.Mix in Courtois words, Petr's injury problems and the fact he was born in triplets (which if im not mistaken makes your body weaker) i think we might be seeing a case of early retirement. Also if the club genuinely thought Cech could do a Van Der Sar then signing Courtois would have been pointless unless it's a profit making exercise.
