22mek22 133
I think that Paulo is a legend. Not only is he a loyal servant to the club, and always given 110% for the cause, but he is extremely popular in the dressing room.He is a smart man and is normally the one called upon to help the Portuguese speaking players settle into the team.He never complains, however as his chances are limited, what do you think about giving him a coaching role?Maybe at the end of this season, or even now. I dont think he wants to leave and I dont think Chelsea want him to leave.Any thoughts?
Leif 6,006
I agree with every word.I have no doubt he's good enough to be a coach for us.His skills as a defender with us were often underrated by most fans it would seem.I'm sure he'd improve the game of up-and-coming right-backs or new arrivals. Also, as mentioned, he's a very good translator. Would love for him to take up a coaching role.
Ollie 4,400
No need, he's already a coach basically. Just keep giving him a new contract. He's a great guy and fantastic around the club. He's basically the perfect squad player.
Jase 43,479
Well said. Great person to have around. Reliable and does his job properly when being called upon onto the pitch. Off it, he's useful to help other players, not just the new ones to settle in(as you pointed out) but also the senior ones at times. Wouldn't be a crazy call to say he deserves a testimonial match. Duppy Conqueror 1,539
well he certainly has experience....of sitting in the dugout..and it would mean we could get something more in return for his wages than him being a sort of holiday rep for foreign players. francozola 2,040
No need, he's already a coach basically. Just keep giving him a new contract. He's a great guy and fantastic around the club. He's basically the perfect squad player. How much is he on though? He signed his current deal in 2008, and he must've been earning 60k or so back then. So it's ridiculous to keep him here on his current wages imo. Coaches earn way less than that!
Wavy Crockett 190
but then who's going to be our £90k/week translator? I don't think Meireles english is quite up to the task and he's not particularly liked by the Brazilians either.....Hilário? no he's probably also close to leaving and would be ridiculous to pay him £90k/week
Funkyflashman 187
I see not a single flaw with this plan, love it!!
Justin_3d 1,140
Youth coach, or to help with our younger RB mentoring...but for that he needs a pay cut, and a tittle as a staff and not a player.
Blue-in-me-Veins 4,067
i really dont mind he can be nice coach, though he's more of a, been there SEEN that guy. and more importantly coaching is all about communication and it would be hard for any of us to know how he communicates. we all know who the ultimate player/coach will be, JT no doubt about it. OneMoSalah 8,886
I have a funny feeling he will be offered a managers job in Portugal or something. Hope he stays here as a coach though, would be brilliant.
Waterfall 893
He worked under Mourinho, Hiddink, Scolari, Ancelotti, AVB and Di Matteo. He must have learned a lot just sitting on the bench
5354 204
He is a highly paid translator, and advisor to new recruits from Portugal.
Spike 12,049
Portuguese George Clooney really is one of my favourite of all time.
Tricky 301
Has been a wonderful servant / or has been Winston Bogarde in disguise.Let's be honest the guy earns a fortune, but he gets on with the job, never let the team down and (I think) loves the club. Also massively underrated as a player, hell is still prefer him over Boswinga.Think a coaching role would actually suit him, maybe assistant manager at some point. Not sure he would like management, think he is too quiet for that.
didierforever 7,349
would be a great gesture.
Hutcho 8,443
would be a good thing, Paulo has been in our set up for a long time, and whilst he is on the bench most of the time, he has a big influence in the dressing room, and whilst he isn't the greatest right back we have had you cannot question his loyalty and commitment, to play where asked whenever infrequently he is needed. don't think there would be many complaints with it... Bambiny14 25
I've always wondered... Is he staying with us because he loves the club, or because he loves the money? I hope it's the first option.

Duppy Conqueror 1,539
Why people call him Legend. id never understand. The "Legend" word is being thrown around very casually. But I agree with the rest of the post.Legend is a commonly used word in England and does not always have the textbook meaning attached to it.and other words like Mad when people aren`t actually mentally ill, star when they aren`t one etc...drunkards for example are often heard saying these words.Legend could be used to describe Ferriera with fairness tho in the sense you are thinking of..when you consider all the medals he`s won. something like 6 League Titles,6 domestic cups. the European Cup twice and played in numerous international tournaments. it may be too strong a word for you but i can think of numerous people who have been called it with less to back it up.i`m not someone who would use those words myself tho to describe him just yet but maybe in the future when i look back at this legendary era of CFC and the players who were here throughout it.they will be known as Legends.
