LOAN INTEREST

Ten Chelsea youngsters are currently out on loan at clubs around the country, and after a busy month, we catch up with their progress.

Scott Sinclair, who has had the most first team action of the group, has signed on at Charlton Athletic until the end of the season, and has so far impressed in Championship action.

In three games since moving to the Valley, Sinclair, pictured in Charlton action, has won one, drawn one and lost one, with all his appearances so far coming from the bench.

Another who has been on the fringes of the first team squad this season is 18-year-old Israeli Ben Sahar, who, like Sinclair spent time at QPR earlier this season. And, like Sinclair, Sahar has made three substitute appearances in his second loan spell of the campaign, this time at Sheffield Wednesday, who have also taken four points from Sahar's three games.

Michael Mancienne continues to excel during his season-long loan at Loftus Road, and has become a regular member of Luigi De Canio's resurgent team. He has now played 22 times this season.

Jack Cork is another who has been out for the entirety of the campaign, again in the Championship with struggling Scunthorpe. He has now played 28 times this season, and scored his second goal of the season against Coventry last week, a vital winner that lifted the side from the bottom of the table.

Left-back Ryan Bertrand exceeded expectations at Oldham in the first half of the season, and is now doing well a level up, with Norwich City, who have lifted themselves away from the relegation zone into mid-table.

Bertrand has now accumulated 12 appearances with the Canaries under manager Glenn Roeder.

Last week, Harry Worley joined Leicester City for the remainder of this season, but he was not involved in Saturday's 0-0 draw with high-flyers Bristol City.

In League One, Anthony Grant has now played twice for Southend since joining on a short-term contract, and both have been impressive victories, a 2-0 win against Luton following a 3-0 win at Yeovil.

In that game, Chelsea team-mate Liam Bridcutt was in the opposition midfield. He has now played six games for the Huish Park side, including five starts.

In League Two, Adrian Pettigrew has played three times for Rotherham United, who currently occupy the final playoff spot. The Chelsea centre-half has started all three.

Finally, James Simmonds made his debut for Dover Athletic on Saturday, a 2-0 home win against Molesey under the guidance of player-manager Andy Hessenthaler.

There is almost a full programme of fixtures in the Football League this evening, which will provide our players with more game opportunities. Charlton travel to Burnley, while Sheffield Wednesday head south to Colchester. Norwich entertain Stoke and Scunthorpe host Plymouth, while Leicester visit Southampton.

In League One, Southend host Nottingham Forest and Yeovil face Millwall, while in League Two Rotherham travel to Bury.
