This is the problem when you put Lampard in the double pivot, because he keeps insisting on running forwards to get goals, it leaves gaps that leads to us leaking in goals.

so u say that playing lampard deep with no attacking intent will make us better? were you watching the first half because that's what happened then. now with marin on for meireles and a general epiphany that we should attack more, the play has been better because Lampard and co are driving forward from mid. Mikel is staying back and top teams don't play more than 1 CDM

They've also played less pre-season games than us, the combined age of their starting defence was around 200 years old, they're using their back-up 'keeper, and unless I'm having a memory fart, they didn't start with a single natural striker.

What excuse does everyone have for this? "It's pre-season" isn't good enough for European fucking Champions.

Lampard Mikel pivot has been very disappointing, it worked well cause all they were busy doing was parking the bus but almost every AC Milan attack has been a counter with Mikel alone manning the entire midfield.

Anyways, good match though overall looking better.

Because they aren't going for a squad overhaul and drastic change in philosophy. It takes time.
