Why not? Meireles has usually done well in a more advanced role and at least we'll now get to see Hazard on the wing where I suspect he'll mostly be playing anyway when Mata and Oscar join the team. And what has Mikel done wrong? Granted, Essien has been better this pre-season but seriously, that's hardly a reason to shit all over him because Mikel is normally the best defensive midfielder we have.

Pleased with the side RDM has picked, seems ideal for a late pre-season game. Good to see Lukaku getting a run in the side over this tour, he's still very rough around the edges but this is a good learning curve for him. Hoping for a Torres cameo goal.

Like Sheva rightly pointed out, only one more game after this than the competitive season starts. Beating Man City will give us a psychological edge all year.

Chelsea arsen't arsenal or spurs, the team picks itself, no matter how excellent Hutchinson or Lukaku or Bertrand play, they will not start and that's a FACT. So why tease and toy with us RDM? The power got to his head, mourinho would just play the best man for every position in every game.

but the main thing is last season we had bosingwa to cover for iva if he was injured/suspended and also paulo (which by every pre-season match seems unlikely) but bosingwa is already gone and paulo should go and hutch and bertrand will be their automatic replacement which was not the case last season.

lukaku was 4th in the pecking order for strikers last year(5th if u count anelka) but he is 3rd now and has got a real shot atleast as a sub which was not possible last year as either drogba/torres started and then anelka/the other striker came as subs. we have cut down on our squad a lot and i think the youngsters WILL play a big part this season. specially bertrand and hutch.
