diskoviolente 425
After Pirlo he took out Arteta of the game yesterday. He pushing the deeplaying playermakers up the pitch which is a feature i didn´t see in him so far watching him at the Olympics and in his first appearances for us. And he can be a bully, very good defensively, and he still creates chances and plots moves. Good guy. Looks like a schoolboy but surely don´t take him on !! Popular Post! zolayes 14,489 Posted September 30, 2012 Popular Post! Share Posted September 30, 2012 Praising offensive players for their defensive work is soo small team mentality...He lost the ball like 10 times and yes he played awful, hasn't created any chance at all and failed to contribute with keeping posession.agree Cech is awful about 6years here and still hasnt scored ...Ive only once seen him in their box ....and he couldnt even score then OneMoSalah, mnmontero, YouNameIt and 2 others

Tomo 21,751
Team sports are always won by the collective. I was talking about individual contributions and I've noticed it's always Drogba when reffering to our CL win. Which isn't right imo.Excellent post, Drogba acknowledged himself that Cech's heroics gave him the platform to sign off in the ultimate fashion, which is why he ran straight to Petr after he scored instead of the rest of the team. CHOULO19 24,332
I thought he was crucial to the balance of the side yesterday. Certainly made up for Mata's lack of defensive ability.

CHOULO19 24,332
To the people saying he lost too many ballsI think they meant how many times he was dispossessed and not how many stray passes or crosses he had.
RamiCFC9 258
Attacking third passes 9/11 to 24/26 yet Chelsea bossed Arsenal first half, hilarious.
The Skipper 20,609
Attacking third passes 9/11 to 24/26 yet Chelsea bossed Arsenal first half, hilarious.Didn't know Oscar making fewer forward passes directly translates into CFC not bossing the first half? Lol.
Tomo 21,751
Like @CHOULO19, said while this may not be Oscar's best game of his career, he was a big reason we won.He was closing down the Arsenal midfield preventing Arteta and co from pulling the string's, its was actually after he got booked (making him more naturally cautious in his challenges) Arsenal started getting a grip of things and eventually leveling the score. OneMoSalah 8,886
Give the kid some time, hes 21 and has played 3 or 4 games in the PL. What were yous expecting, a hattrick each game and 8 assists so far or something? blu35_army
TorontoChelsea 4,064
Oscar has a more defensive work rate than mata and hazard. At juventus dimatteo only played him because his job was to mark pirlo. Against arsenal, oscars job was to mark arteta.Arteta had the highest touches per match before meeting chelsea and oscar limited it.In the first half, chelsea bossed arsenal. When oscar was taken off, you could see that arsenal chances started to come.He can't always have both a defensive and offensive good game like juve.Because of his ability to always be available for his teammates for a pass, and his defensive attributes, his presence on the pitch is a massive bonus to chelsea. Not his best game because he lost the ball somtimes, but you can tell they are trying to build his physical game. His defensive work rate is the only reason that RDM can field attacking line-ups of hazard-oscar-mata and we should give credit where its due.I strongly disagree. Arteta was not in the game yesterday because Arsenal attacked via the wings. Their two players who had the most touches were Gibbs and Jenkinson. As they outnumbered us there, it was natural for them to attack us on the sides. Arsenal players had no problems moving around Oscar and even when he was subbed off, there was no change at all in Arteta's performance (where he was being marked, I assume by Mata). Oscar had a poor game. Again, nothing wrong with that, all players have poor games from time to time, but this is the sort of match where if it were Kalou or any player that's been at Chelsea for more than 2 years, the same people praising Oscar for his work rate would be saying "he loses the ball the time. he makes stupid fouls, work rate isn't important if you can't contribute offensively, he's useless, we need to buy this or that player."
