Essien has been great. Who was crap last season. While some of our best players from last season have looked bad. Preseason means NOTHING

we as a team have had our best moments when essien is on the pitch, more possession and dominance at the least.

I know it's only pre-season but think many have been using that too much of an excuse. No reasons for some of the dreadful passing, defending, touches, movement etc. Apart from being excited to see the new signings, have we really seen any sign of progression, the so called attacking football Roman wanted, link up play between the new players. Errm, noo!

And I was making a general observation, not clamoring for Essien to get an assured starting role. Irrespective of what he's been last season (mostly absent) he's looked bloody good this pre-season.

It could be that the players just dont give a shit. Ill be more worried if we put out a performance like that when the league starts.

Just like last season we have a problem immediately we cross the half way line. We can't connect more than 3 passes in a row, and can't play the ball in behind defenders.

I know it's just preseason but i expected better performances, results obviously do not matter.

Also doesn't help that we've had Lukaku starting all 3 games, even when he hasn't been very good.

On a positive note - we were more solid in this game (1st half mostly), better spells of possession, and they didn't have as many opportunities as Seattle and PSG did.

Long ball and ultra defence is the way to play football. In all honesty I would love to see us put in heroic backs to the wall performances again to win it than to Barcelona our way to win the CL again.

No. Turnbull is a calamity, but we already knew that. Piazon, Chalobah, etc. aren't ready, and we already knew that.

About the only thing we've learned from today is that fitness and motivation are more important than reputation. We weren't arsed and we weren't as fit as the MLS players.
