That's exactly how I used to think of him, until I watched last CL final.

Unsurprisingly enough Ronaldo vanished and Bale was the player who made a difference. Yes, he missed an opportunity before equalizing, but kudos to him that he kept on trying.

Bale is younger too and it was his first season in Spain. I don't think this is the best we are going to see from him..

I watched the final too and didn't think Bale did anything particularly special. Di Maria was the best attacking player on the pitch by miles. I really don't want to sound like a hater but I just think he's a limited player.

Scoring doesn't elevate his general performance. See that's the problem. Hazard can have a very good game without scoring and people will say he doesn't score enough, needs to shoot more etc. Bale has a terrible game but scores a goal and it's excused. What happens when the goals dry up?

But you can't say he only scored the goal... without that goal, which was hardly a tap in, they lose. In a low scoring game like football, scoring a goal, especially a difficult one, is huge! Which makes the players who can do that on their own, like Messi, invaluable.

Goals never dry up for the truly special players.

Of course assists count too. However, if the the attacking player isn't assisting nor scoring consistently, then he's just not at that level.

Also Bale plays with Benzema and C.Ronaldo who more than carry their own weight, take the pressure off him to some extent. Even Bale's assists numbers jumped to 16 last year just off the strength of playing with better attacking players, he'd never reached anywhere near that before in his career.

Just think what kind of numbers Hazard would be getting playing with better attacking teammates? As much as we rate our own guys, compared to Benzema and C.Ronaldo, Hazard is working with significantly lesser players. He'd be a beast for Real Madrid, even more so than Bale in my opinion.

Ronaldo was extremely poor aswell (but i think he was suffering from an injury no?)

He made a good run but you're really exaggerating the quality it took to score that goal. The goal itself was nothing special, very important goal but not special.

Bale started 24 games in Madrid for the League, he was not in the stating eleven in 14 games(Neymar started 19, half the games in La Liga). And he has that numbers. The numbers Ronaldo and Messi have are only comparable with the ones Bale and Neymar have.

When Neymar and Bale play in the starting eleven 30 times per season, in the second or third season in Spain they will score more than 20/30 goals without any problem. No other winger can do it, and that's why Bale and Neymar are right now the future in football.

A 22 years old guy. in his first season in Barcelona, with a world cup in his country that season, and the ex president is almost in jail because of the way he was bought. You know the difference between Alexis and Neymar? Neymar is better, younger, played a lot less games, and Neymar already scored that number of goals... something that Alexis won't do.

I'm not saying they will reach that level, I don't predict the future... 50 goals in one league like Messi or 17 in CHampions League like Ronaldo (and every time more than 30 goals for the past 5 or 6 years in League)... maybe no one can do it.But the only players that will do something like that (something like 30 goals in league) especially being wingers are Bale and Neymar.Because their numbers show it.
