Eden Hazard

He says he constantly had three players around him, and that was true. Belgian media focus a lot on his performances and expectations are very high. The reason why he does not really live up to those expectations have imo both to do with the choices Wilmots makes (not many midfielders to combine with high in midfield) and with him indeed not showing much aggression.

There will be a moment in time where Hazard will realise that he'll always have 2/3 players constantly marking him. When he's enlightened about that he'll step his game up to a new level. I believe he has the ability to do that.

Talking about him being unaggressive, I remember from the game against Norwich when he got the ball deep and had acres of space in front of him to run to, but he just jogged a little and passed it back to Terry. I don't know what that was all about, he could have easily run higher up the pitch. Could it actually be that he's low on confidence? Perhaps he's not feeling too well here yet. But when he gets in the mood and isn't being all lazy, he's a joy to watch.

I dont think thats the problem.. or atleast i hope it isnt. Eden is the type of player (like Messi) who knows when to take on defenders and try to create a chance for himself and when to just pass and let the ball do the work. But im still waiting for Hazard to take free kicks for us or atleast get a chance every once in a while..

Lol you think defenders just understood a month ago he needs special care ? Don't forget he's terrorized Ligue 1 defenses the last four years. Every game he was marked by 2 to 4 defenders depending on the other side... That's why players like Gervinho could shine around him, with all the space he created. He realised long ago it will always be that way. Didn't stop him from being 2nd best scorer and best passer of Ligue 1 though.

What was the score then ? Because with his former team, and former coach, it was like Barcelona : possession is key. Counter attacks are good but only if you're sure it will end at least in the surface, so that you can press right back high in the pitch if you lose the ball. If one doesn't see a sure way to be dangerous quickly, no need to risk losing the ball. Might as well take our time, controlling the game and be dangerous another way. Especially if we're leading.

So it might also be a bit cultural. It's how he's been learnt to play, and maybe it benefits your team. Not rushing things isn't always the bad option in football.
