The truth is: Falcao, Zidane, Messi, Ronaldinho at his peak, Cristiano Ronaldo and other great players were a bargain, or were bought when they were just kids and for a bargain as well, then they became great players. What does it means: you dont pay that kind of money for "potential", or because you see a "young talended kid".

When you see a player like Hazard, you dont even know where he will be 5 years from now. Manchester United paid little money for Javier Hernandez, perhaps he is no as good looking as Hazard, perhaps he cant dribble as the belgian, but you cant deny the mexican reallly made an impact in PL, and to be honest I rather have a bargain like Hernandez, than an expensive luxury like Hazard.

You could see Hazard was the real thing when he was 16-17 years old. Arsenal had lots of interest but his price tag was already too high for Wenger .

Hence, to be honest, I don't agree about the fact Hazard is a young talented kid in that way, he already has a lot of experience in a decent competition (which ligue 1 is) comparing to others at his age.

So the excuse of him still being young isn't really justifiable. He just has to adapt to the BPL like everyone new here, which he is doing, imo, pretty good.

That's why I don't post that much on this topic or is much dythirambic about him because I know it will rub people the wrong way.

I'm a fan of him but not a blind one and I think I will never be over the moon on his performances because I think he can always do better.

I don't like when he has huge praise and huge critics, I alway prefer the middle ground.

What I hate the most about football is the statistic "whores". Sometimes you can have o goal and o assist and have a good game and it's not because you scored a goal or assists that you had a good game.

I think Henrique can relate to that. When David Luiz has not good games, he will defend him and when he has good game, for him it will be normal and he could have done even better.

I don't like when some compare him to Ronaldo, they are not similar in their playing style.

When he is in good form, I would compare him more in his playing style to Iniesta, Silva. The guy who will create openings, space, driving lines to other players to finish the actions, moving defenders with him.

Mata for me benefits from this as he's not the only one in the team that must create and he can be more in the finishing position.

Have to agree with TrippingStep that a few of the other Belgian posters are blinded by their love for Hazard. He's been pretty underwhelming so far this season compared with his days at Lille. Yet you can't deny he's made an impact. Henrique goes a bit far in his criticism but has some points. Yet don't think Chelsea overpaid for Hazard, it's not only potential they bought. Hazard has been ripping up the French League the past seasons and broke several individual records. First foreigner to win young player of the year awards, first to win it consecutive and youngest ever winner of the player of the year award. You've got to go back to Ronaldinho at PSG to find a player that had a similar impact in Ligue1. And it hasn't been bits of flashes he's showed a Lille that got the major clubs interested. He was at the heart of the team that brought them trophies after waiting for decades.

So he's performed at an established league with a fine pedigree of players that made it to the top.

Compare him to David Silva, brought in for £24m in 2010, a similar big money move. In his first season he got 4 goals and 8 assists in 35 games (EPL). Hazard, costing Chelsea £32m in 2012, so far has 5 goals and 9 assists in 21 games. Compared to that his value seems spot on no?

Well, Actually it is the other way around. Some of us feel it is unjust to criticize a guy because of the 'publicity' or exposure he gets on a forum, instead of his performances. (Henrique even voted him motm lst game if I recall correctly.) Illustrations for my point being following citations:

Now, besides blowing hot and cold a the same time in this post multiple times: what IS the valid point at hand here Henrique seems to have? That is is OK to criticize a player because he has a lot of fans posting? Because they post here more than in the Mata thread? I never said anything about him performing superb, nor have other belgian posters after his statement. What we do have in common (and if you scroll back you will see there as many other nationalities posting than Belgians when I say we) is that an argument has to have some validity, some real content. What happened was just one big troll as far as I am concerned, designed to rally up everyone on the Hazard subject and actually divide the fans. Calling people names (idiot for example and shouting to get of this forum because you thro a tantrum) and shifting the subject of a the topic is just an immunization strategy to get a grip on this debate without providing actual, factual arguments.

I respect Henrique's feelings about Hazard, I also read that, since you're Brazilian, you see a lot of players who can dribble 3 or 4 players. That doesn't make them great players. Totally agree. You feel a lot of Belgian fans here are biased towards Hazard, again, probably true.

But then you say 'Neymar is the only U21 player who is worth that money', etc.. So isn't that the same thing? Your Brazilian heart speaking (which is perfectly normal)? Don't really get why you're defending Henrique. He explained why he didn't like Hazard. The reasons he gave were all things where Hazard couldn't do anything about. So he got called out on that.
