Finally someone who is not blind about Hazard at all. If Hazard is so good as people think, perhaps we would be in Champions League right now, and at the top of PL table. Perhaps because in Brazil we have a lot of players that can dribble 3 or 4 player in a row, I'm not impressed about that at all, and I know that it takes a train to be a really great footballer. As I said before, Hazard is a good player, no doubt about it, but not as good as his price tag and wages suggest. In fact these guys running Chelsea dont have a clue about football. Neymar perhaps is the only u21 player worth more than 25m english pounds, but Chelsea is now paying a lot of money for these young players, and you cant even criticize them, because someone will say: he is only 21 years old. Ok, tomorrow the club will pay 35m for a 10 years old boy, and some forum member will say: lets wait 15 years to see if he is worth that money. The most annoying argument is: "the guy is only 21". Dont expect me to judge him as a young prospect, when his price tag suggest he is already one of the 15 best players in the world.ps: I really hope some of those crazy fans will stay away now, because we are discussing serious subjects.
I actually think have a point here, however, Hazard didnt determine his value, the market did. Ever since Zidane stated that he would like to see him at Madrid, his pricetag soared. I dont see how you can fault the player for that..

As for his wages, according to Belgian press, he makes about 130k, euros.!. Witch would be about 30% more then wat he made at Lille, and nowhere near the figures that the English press have been spreading...

I am not blind for Hazards mistakes. I just said your argument for not liking him was bollocks (ecause people on this forum overrated him, you hated him).

That's all. Don't make up a strawman argument now :-) :clown::clown::clown:

Oh and please don't start the personal insults again.

Have you guys forgotten how jealous fans of other clubs got when we signed him? B) I've got a man-utd. fan friend who tries to remind me every now and then that chelsea paid hazard's agent a two million (?) pound bonus and that was the only thing that prevented him from joining the reds. :lol2:

Believe me lads, every news paper and every self-righteous pundit will try to convince us that we've paid too much for hazard and that we're paying him too much until he proves his talent beyond doubt. Along with Mata and Oscar I feel like we've got a real gem in our hands.

Hazard is amazing and was so worth the 32 mill. look at the santi cazorla whos 28 and cost 16 mill, haxard is better than him. And look at kagawa, he's been injured most of the time and hazard is also way better (not sure the exact value kagawa was bought for). and y do u care about how much he cost, just think of it as a present from abramovich

The truth is: Falcao, Zidane, Messi, Ronaldinho at his peak, Cristiano Ronaldo and other great players were a bargain, or were bought when they were just kids and for a bargain as well, then they became great players. What does it means: you dont pay that kind of money for "potential", or because you see a "young talended kid".

When you see a player like Hazard, you dont even know where he will be 5 years from now. Manchester United paid little money for Javier Hernandez, perhaps he is no as good looking as Hazard, perhaps he cant dribble as the belgian, but you cant deny the mexican reallly made an impact in PL, and to be honest I rather have a bargain like Hernandez, than an expensive luxury like Hazard.

You could see Hazard was the real thing when he was 16-17 years old. Arsenal had lots of interest but his price tag was already too high for Wenger ;).

Hence, to be honest, I don't agree about the fact Hazard is a young talented kid in that way, he already has a lot of experience in a decent competition (which ligue 1 is) comparing to others at his age.

So the excuse of him still being young isn't really justifiable. He just has to adapt to the BPL like everyone new here, which he is doing, imo, pretty good.

Looking forward to tomorrow to see if he can hold his superb form (if he will play).

I blame the belgian posters.

That's why I don't post that much on this topic or is much dythirambic about him because I know it will rub people the wrong way.

I'm a fan of him but not a blind one and I think I will never be over the moon on his performances because I think he can always do better.

I don't like when he has huge praise and huge critics, I alway prefer the middle ground.

What I hate the most about football is the statistic "whores". Sometimes you can have o goal and o assist and have a good game and it's not because you scored a goal or assists that you had a good game.

I think Henrique can relate to that. When David Luiz has not good games, he will defend him and when he has good game, for him it will be normal and he could have done even better.

I don't like when some compare him to Ronaldo, they are not similar in their playing style.

When he is in good form, I would compare him more in his playing style to Iniesta, Silva. The guy who will create openings, space, driving lines to other players to finish the actions, moving defenders with him.

Mata for me benefits from this as he's not the only one in the team that must create and he can be more in the finishing position.

This isn't the thread for it but..

  • John Terry need financial assurances to stop him going from Manchester City
  • Juan Mata will probably have Valencia in his heart as he started off with them.
  • Frank Lampard was on the verge of Inter Milan not too long ago.
  • Cech and Ivanovic's resolve hasn't been tested yet.

This has to be the most stuipid comment EVER made here.

Have to agree with TrippingStep that a few of the other Belgian posters are blinded by their love for Hazard. He's been pretty underwhelming so far this season compared with his days at Lille. Yet you can't deny he's made an impact. Henrique goes a bit far in his criticism but has some points. Yet don't think Chelsea overpaid for Hazard, it's not only potential they bought. Hazard has been ripping up the French League the past seasons and broke several individual records. First foreigner to win young player of the year awards, first to win it consecutive and youngest ever winner of the player of the year award. You've got to go back to Ronaldinho at PSG to find a player that had a similar impact in Ligue1. And it hasn't been bits of flashes he's showed a Lille that got the major clubs interested. He was at the heart of the team that brought them trophies after waiting for decades.

So he's performed at an established league with a fine pedigree of players that made it to the top.

Compare him to David Silva, brought in for £24m in 2010, a similar big money move. In his first season he got 4 goals and 8 assists in 35 games (EPL). Hazard, costing Chelsea £32m in 2012, so far has 5 goals and 9 assists in 21 games. Compared to that his value seems spot on no?

Well, Actually it is the other way around. Some of us feel it is unjust to criticize a guy because of the 'publicity' or exposure he gets on a forum, instead of his performances. (Henrique even voted him motm lst game if I recall correctly.) Illustrations for my point being following citations:

The reason I dont like Hazard is very simple: its really annoying how people overrated the guy, talking even about a move to Real Madrid, when Real Madrid is not interested at all.

This topic have 150 pages, and less than one year. Mata topic has only 103 .

Response citation from me:

So you don't like a guy because other people tell stuff about him on a forum. Stuff he is in no way connected to or reponsible for.

Response citation from others:

You're one sorry piece of work, Henrique; speaking out of personal grudge every time you contribute to this thread. Okay, you don't like Hazard and granted, we payed a hefty sum for him BUT

you made this point over a 100 pages ago - give.it.a.rest! .

Response citation From Henrique:

Why another belgian? Why you dont like people that dont like Hazard? Whats your problem?

And then this comes along, completely besides the point of discussion:

Have to agree with TrippingStep that a few of the other Belgian posters are blinded by their love for Hazard. He's been pretty underwhelming so far this season compared with his days at Lille. Yet you can't deny he's made an impact. Henrique goes a bit far in his criticism but has some points.

Now, besides blowing hot and cold a the same time in this post multiple times: what IS the valid point at hand here Henrique seems to have? That is is OK to criticize a player because he has a lot of fans posting? Because they post here more than in the Mata thread? I never said anything about him performing superb, nor have other belgian posters after his statement. What we do have in common (and if you scroll back you will see there as many other nationalities posting than Belgians when I say we) is that an argument has to have some validity, some real content. What happened was just one big troll as far as I am concerned, designed to rally up everyone on the Hazard subject and actually divide the fans. Calling people names (idiot for example and shouting to get of this forum because you thro a tantrum) and shifting the subject of a the topic is just an immunization strategy to get a grip on this debate without providing actual, factual arguments.

I'm out for now. As I promised the mods, but the truth has its rights, hence the clarification.

Blowing hot and cold? Some people have a broader perspective of things then merely looking in terms of black and white.
Throughout this whole topic you've been practically unable to deal with any criticism directed at Hazard, dealing with it as some kind of personal attack, unlike those other posters. You keep kicking in open doors and have been reiterating every known cliché for months. You're on the other side of the pendulum as Henrique. Who certainly has been daft in most of his arguments here but also has some valid points which he's free to express. Henrique contributed more than what you're pointing out above, and yes that's daft as every sensible poster would know. Yet he's right that some people here react as frenzied bloodhounds when Hazard gets criticism.

Nah :clown:

Still waiting for facts on THIS debate, though. I can give you citations of my posts that are critical on Hazard too. Check The MOTM votes. Fact. about kicking in open doors and reiterating very known cliché for months: where? Or is that just an opinion you use to do reputation damage?

Back on track: My objections lies in some not being able to distinguish a critique on a performance from a critique on a person. That's all. Don't get all mad cause I quoted you. No need for that.

I respect Henrique's feelings about Hazard, I also read that, since you're Brazilian, you see a lot of players who can dribble 3 or 4 players. That doesn't make them great players. Totally agree. You feel a lot of Belgian fans here are biased towards Hazard, again, probably true.

But then you say 'Neymar is the only U21 player who is worth that money', etc.. So isn't that the same thing? Your Brazilian heart speaking (which is perfectly normal)? Neymar hasn't proved anything in Europe. He is a player who can dribble 3 or 4 players. But you say yourself that that doesn't make a good player.

So again, I respect your feelings towards Hazard and football in general. But at least be consistent and don't take away the earth under year own feet.

Don't really get why you're defending Henrique. He explained why he didn't like Hazard. The reasons he gave were all things where Hazard couldn't do anything about. So he got called out on that. Not just by "frenzied Belgian bloodhounds" but other people from different nationalities on this forum. Then he started calling all Hazard fans on this forum idiots which is when all the insults started.

Also why are you reacting so agitated towards Stingray ?

As usual, a member who won the motm thing come up with such a post. You are only trying to be a populat character posting such a thing here, otherwise you would have saved your time.

One year ago zolayes was liking posts that said Torres was a pivotal striker and Lampard was a disgrace. How he likes posts that say Torres is shit, and Lampard should stay for more 5 years. No doubt he liked your post.
