I'm also going to state here that Hazard is our best big game performer of all time, with Drogba. Whatever happens from now on, he's already a legend at this club for me.

We need to do everything in are power to keep him here what a talent

When he performs in the champions league we can talk.

He's performed in the CL numerous times. We just play cowardly football.

Parking the bus against Atletico & then starting a game with 6 defenders, sitting deep against 10 man PSG & he was injured last season.

Can you remind of of these numerous times? And don't mention the game against that team from israel

I don't even need any stat to know Hazard is a superior dribbler to Messi. The eye-test shows Messi fails quite a lot of his dribbles for everyone he gets right. He often loses the ball. Hazard rarely ever loses the ball when he attempts to beat players. He just simply blows past them. If we just forget the name at the back of the jersey and consider it's not LIONEL MESSI, this is not even a debatable point all things considered. Hazard is the best dribbler of his era and one of the most devastating dribblers the game has ever seen.

Are you talking right now or you are talking about messi in his prime because right now Hazard is in his prime where as Messi on his way down.

Without question right now hazard is a better dribbler than messi but at his prime messi can pick up the ball and midfield and scared the whole defence

To be quite fair, he was extremely lucky on the penalty, but with his style, Caballero, who is a smart GK in terms of penalties, would have saved it any day. I was actually expecting him to miss. Thank God it rebounded. He is still our best penalty taker. Maybe Cesc.

I'm talking about Messi in his prime. jeez, do you guys even read my posts anymore? :( The stats I posted show Messi's dribbling while excellent have been embellished by the greatness and the myth of the player himself. A purely objective examination shows Eden blows him out of the water. What Eden is doing this season dribbling wise is unprecendented.

He was then injured in the home leg against PSG & the away leg against Altetico. Just about cleared fit for the home leg then that tosser Mourinho put out this lineup against them

He's destroyed all of United, City, Tottenham, Arsenal & Liverpool countless times yet he supposedly can't perform in the CL.

3 yrs ago he had a decent tie against Galatasaray.... His standard is such that he should be man of the match in big champions league games. Now lets examine the games he was nonexistent in...

2012 Shakhtar both legs he was non existent. "found it difficult in the opening half. Beaten for the second goal" "came on for an injured Lampard after 18mins but struggled to create any space and found his passing game was inadequate.

Juventus 3-0 - played as striker and had zero impact(perhaps DiMatteo's fault)

in 2013-14 we had perhaps the easiest draw of all. The only big games we played were against PSG and Atleti. Against Atleti he was at fault for 2 goals I believe...

2014-15 - again the easiest group one could imagine... Against PSG 1-1 "Drew numerous fouls to ease the pressure on his team but contributed little substance" 2-2 "Was restricted by Marquinhos and lacked his usual creative influence before calmly scoring Chelsea's penalty after Silva’s handball."

2015-16 - easy group made to look hard... 2-1 PSG home "invisible for large spells of the match and was substituted in the 2nd half. 2-1 away "Started the game off well - testing Trapp on a few occasions, but ultimately failed to dominate Chelsea's attacking play. Was booed off by a section of the home fans in the second half."

For me I have yet to see him dominate a big champions league fixture, he is nowhere near lampard let alone Didier in terms of big match influence. The mere suggestion of such a thing is laughable.

If he stays past this summer the real test will begin!

His pens are very easy to save these days. Little power and considering he takes little space to shot, gk knows it will be a low shot.

If Eden put the ball near either post, the save would be impossible, but he goes always for middle between gk and post. Gk only has to figure out which side so its relatively easy 50:50 save. Last 6 pens, eden scored only 3 so there is that.

Either he needs to to take more power to his shots or someone else should start taking them.

Haven't you been watching his pens for the last 3 years? He waits for the goalie to move, then picks a corner. He doesn't gamble. Of course it's an easy save if he decides wrong, he almost passes it.

I don't necessarily like it, but he's been doing it succesfully for most of his career.

Thanks for this in depth summary. Been saying the same for a while now. He has a chance to really show what he's about next season though.

I disagree. Hazard's vision is incredible and is definitely in the same conversation. You're arguing for vision, I'm arguing for creativity. You don't have to have Cesc-esque full range vision to be a creative force.

Messi trumps Eden in creativity and vision but that doesn't mean Eden isn't amazing at it. Messi just sets a very high level.

Thibaut Courtois has told Chelsea they have to keep Eden Hazard if they are serious about winning the Champions League again.

http://m.goal.com/s/en/news/8/main/2017/04/06/34368822/chelsea-need-hazard-to-have-chance-of-winning-champions?utm_referrer=http%3A%2F%2Fc.newsnow.co.uk%2FA%2F880027130%3F-11199%3A832%3A0

I agree with courtios on this one we will. Have a great chance to challenge  the CL next season  with hazard in the team and a couple of big signings in the summer

Vision, yes, creativity in general I disagree. The stats I posted 1 or 2 pages ago tell a different story though. Hazard has outstriped Messi in the last 5 seasons in key passes and created chances and those stats don't lie. They are more accurate to determine creativity than assists, especially when there's a huge difference in quality between the two teams both players play for. The players that rank at the top of those stats are who you expect to be there. Great playmakers and set-piece takers. You really don't have any metric to argue against that other than a subjective opinion. But let's agree to disagree.
