One of the top 5 players to ever play for Chelsea. Only JT, Lamps and Didier ahead of Eden.  Almost everything he did with the ball today was class and things  only 2 or 3 players in world football could do . If this is his last game for Chelsea I'm happy to see him leave on a high. Shame we never built a truly top quality team around him or employed the right type of (attacking) manager post 2012/Eden Hazard era to build something truly special. Instead we've been more clueless than we've ever been in this era in terms of boardroom decisions. 

We can only imagine what could have been if Hazard had played alongside the likes of A young Didier and Lamps, Ballack, Robben, Essien and so on.

What do peeps think about this afyer we derided the north London club for Jack Wilshere and Wojciech Szczesny  smoking?

U'm nowhere near a prudeand a playrs private life is just that but I don't agree they should do things like this that will bring the club into question. I can imagine theres a rule about it in their contracts. And a cigar that size isn't one for beginners. Personally I can't and never have seen the attraction. Its not like weed where you get something from it.

But more to the point it looks like our medical director needs to see a quack to get a bit fitter!

Does our boy want/consider big expensive players the only ones suitable to play in a team with? Because as ya know its going to be difficult for us to get them for many reasons.

Or would just Sarris style of play with him bringing in players he thinks will suit that style be ok for him?

We never really know who we have coming in till that last minute of the season when the wonky donkeys are normally hobbling around with their 'Chelsea Buy Me' cards arounf their necks.So eden wont know who he will have to play in the team with. So when does he make his decision if they are worthy of him?

I'm being devils advocate here as I understand both sides of the situation but I have to admit it that I dont like the way he has gone about the problem even if I understand what hes saying.

 

Tho I would love a team full of top well known players I would be happy to have a happy team, playing good football together and hopefully winning games no matter who they were.

I thhink that even if we dont end up winning silverware over Sarris contract - those 2 years will have got us playing a more up beat attacking football that should add to the defensive side we have now. And IF after those 2 years Roman decides another change is necessary then at least we should have a more well balanced side by then for the next manager to work with.

If you look at Sarri’s Napoli he didn’t need big money players really to play the football that he does? Sarri would arguably already have a more talented squad here - We’re just missing some pieces (a midfielder, a forward, maybe another fullback). We don’t need well known players per se, we could go down the route of getting up and coming players, which shouldn’t be outside our capabilities. For me, it’s not about signing big players, but more about the cultural change of the team (as you said at the end of your post).

I think Hazard probably feels the same, hence the comments. More talented players (regardless of how well known they are) would be willing to play under a more progressive team, where they can enjoy their football whilst challenging for trophies as well.

Not NORMALLY a big name player has deserved to be just that. Tho they can lose their way going to a new team/country etc.

Whatever happens with Sarri if he does come, I just hope that the stigma of positive attacking football and winning things being impossible in conjunction to some in our fan base is dispelled.
