The liverpool argument works, but still, i think the FA cup is a much bigger honour of achievment than the club world cup.

Only at the moment, wait till some time, because it's such a hard thing to win. Not just the competition, to get into it mostly.

yeah. getting into it is a bitch and thats why winning it even once is a unique achievement. would be disappointed if we win CL and dont win CWC.

our build up play HAS to improve. its something like england. we need to retain the ball better. the direct attacking is there but the ball retention in key phases is missing, with a team like that (hazard, hulk, torres etc) our direct attacking will improve but we will still go into that backs to the wall mode if we don't change the system and don't retain the ball better. football is not played on paper. even with hulk, hazard, torres we can't expect chelsea to knock every team out of the park. to be fair, torres has done shit in a Blue shirt. but as Chelsea fans we are overlooking it in the hope of a better future and the Hulk deal has gone cold but assuming he does come, we will still have the same old problems of our build up

completely disagree again, better players in the attacking third would mean we move the ball upto them faster and we do a lot more damage when we are in possession. man city play with two holding mids who offer no creativity but all their work is done by the three infront and toure bombarding forward essien style with more of a goal threat. we will do something similar. lampard will make his usual runs when he gets the chance and the three infront of him have enough pace, creativity and ability in them to score themselves or make goals for one another. it's a massive upgrade from kalou/malouda and even ramires (i love rami and he is a counter attacking machine, but in possession he doesn't offer much apart from pace)

again, three attacking players of that ilk will take us to a whole new level. that's my belief.

Yeah if the clubs in other continents improve then i can see in 20 years it becoming much more prestigious, but at the moment there are teams like Monterry, and Aukland City FC (no disrespect to many of our australians here) but its not exactly Man city or United.

I don't think there is a person on this forum who wouldn't be happy with just winning the champions league next year. But the reason its so hard to win is because winning the champions league so hard, its not particularly the comptetion itself.

i'll tell you what will improve and what wont

Pace - yes

Attacking threat - yes

Goals - naturally

but we will still be last season's team that was chasing the ball against big teams except that we will be better when we attack. there should be a radical shift in the tactics to make us a devastating attacking force. maybe a bold 4-3-3 or a 4-4-2 with torres and hulk/sturridge. July 18 will make things clear when we face Seattle Sounders but until then I am only optimistic, not assuming that we are brilliant overnight

4-2-3-1, and i think we should dominate posession against most teams in the prem with the exceptions being City and possibly united dependant on their midfield.

fair enough. but as you've said i believe that the transition will happen naturally. better players, better results. maybe the consistency will take time but i have belief that we can win the title with the three of hulk, mata and hazard supplying torres.

That makes no sense. The main reason our build up play was so slow and ineffective was due to the calibre and type of players we had. So how on Earth can our build up play still be a problem with players like Hazard, Mata, Marin, De Bryune and Hulk? Yes, it will take some time for them to gel but even in that period of 'Gelling' our build up will be a massive improvement to when we had Anelkalouda. Players like Mata, Hazard and co will have little to no problem retaining the ball against most teams.

players groomed into the same system will see us do the same thing as last season. the thing is we tried to move the ball along quickly - too quickly actually as many of the attacks tethered out early and put us under pressure.

basically what i am saying is that we need a "Pirlo" or someone who directs the attacks precisely. havin hulk and hazard on the wings is of little use without the proper passes there and the only genuine passers we have got are Mata and Lampard(sometimes). we basically need a schemer in the middle. priority number one
