Panorama: Euro 2012, Stadiums of hate.

I saw that video. A few kids getting kicked by a couple of dozen ultras. It's not like what Campbell's making it out to be; he's basically saying if you dare even fly over Ukraine's airspace you will be killed.

I think the quote was "don't risk going because you might end up coming back in a bodybag."

So am I the only one concerned about this now? Just because it was "on the tv" means it was exaggerated etc? How can they be allowed to host a tournament if they can't even look after their own. Absolutely disgusting.

It is a cause for concern that a minority of Ukrainian and Polish football fans/people in general find it funny to beat up people who don't look white. But there are a lot of precedents for countries that wank about with human rights and related issues but still get to host international tournaments. India with the Commonwealth Games in 2010 are an example. The Beijing 2008 Olympics, as well.

Compared to the excesses of the Hindu right wing and Chinese government, a few neo-Nazi thugs are small fry.

What is genuinely concerning is Qatar 2022- where Israeli's and homosexuals are unlikely to gain entry to the country at all. At least Pol-kraine try to make things work.

Also, what in fucks name is wrong with Slavic neo-Nazi's? Hitler hated them. Slavs were as subhuman to him as a Jew or a black, his master plan was to enslave the Slavic race, and eventually exterminate them. Surely they're not stupid enough to idolise a guy who wanted to inflict slavery and extermination on their entire ethnic group?

It wasn't just Ukraine it showed Wisla and Cracovia fans sieg heiling, making monkey noises and singing songs about Jews as well. It's definitely a problem.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying the whole country is like it and I know the majority will be absolutely disgusted by this, but there is clearly something that needs dealing with.

Trust me, I haven't heard of any racist incident in any league in Poland for quite a few years, furthermore we idolise good players, no matter the colour and we added few to our national team, like Olisadebe or Guerreiro. We also wanted to call-up players from Israel - Melikson and Colombia - Arboleda. You have to understand that majority of the most hardcore fans in Poland are not the smartest folks, and for them to want to call players named above is clearly showing something. Even in my city, where my club is one of the smallest in our top division, promoted 2 days ago, we have quite a bunch of different race players and they are the ones alwayes praised, no matter the performance, the fan favourites.

And the whole thing with hooliganism is being dealt by our prime minister who said it was his mission to fight it, but it was a wrong move from him, because in Poland the hooligans, unlike the hardcore English fans from the 80's, fight outside the stadium in isolated areas like forests and what our PM's been fighting with were the ultras.

Are you denying that there is a problem in your country?

Would you say that there isn't a racism problem in the world except for Poland and Ukraine? It happens everywhere, and you can't heal idiocy. So should I write a letter to Olympic Committee asking them to remove the Olympics from London because Terry is accused of racism?

Quite surprised at some of the responses, brushing the issue to one side :/

Go and sign up to Green Peace because some company wants to remove a tree near my house, ffs.

If I knew you before, I wouldn't have bashed Kalou.

Have you even been to one of those countries to know the situation around here? Because to me you seem as smart as Campbell. Try to learn something by yourself instead of listening to everything people tell you and believing it's true.

This problem wouldn't have existed under communist rule. Such people would have been sent off to a gulag for neo-Nazism, as they would have been seen as fascist counter-revolutionaries.

How can you be so awesome, regardless of being Australian?

In conclusion, I'm not writing here, trying to tell you that my country is some kind of a fairyland and that Euro will show how great and wonderful our nation is, because that would be a false statement. In fact, we have a lot of problems and the quality of life is falling down day by day. Also there are a lot of morons willing to kick the shit out of you for no reason. But saying that someone shouldn't even come here because he might end up in a bag or saying things like "I demand to know who on earth makes the decision to host a tournament in two of these "Civilizations" (If you can call them that) who act in the manner they do. I'm absolutely appalled that this decision has been made by UEFA, and no one within Poland or Ukraine seems to have done anything about it." is not only direspectful but also showing the amount of intelligence by people who are willing to fight over something they have no clue about.

That's fucking clever of you. Do you want a gold star for it? I won't be called disrespectful for the email I wrote.

I was before surprised at some of everyone's responses but now I'm livid at the stupidity at some of you. This forum seems to get thicker and thicker every fucking year.

And no intelligence on the matter? I don't care what you say Manuf, A European championship should not be held in a country where Fans kick the shit out of people because of the colour of their skin or drawing the Nazi-Salute shouting "sig-heil".

Absolutely no fucking way.

Yes, I would love a golden star and a fucking cake. Wonder if you would feel great if some Polish player said people shouldn't go to the olympics because you are racist and I would wrote an e-mail calling you animals. Would that be fair to your nation? Do you think our club should be banned because Terry is allegedly a racist?

In hindsight yes the "civilization" part of the message I regret, but it was right after I saw what I saw. Apologies but it was a heat of the moment thing. I would have Pm'd you this but I would prefer everyone see it.

Also Terry allegedly calling someone a "black cunt" is completely different to this. In a whole different league. Racism exsists heavily in spain too. I'm worried more about the violence of the place.

Like I said I will take back the "civilization" part of the message because it was heat of the moment but I stand by the rest of my message, completely.

Is this in a football match? I can almost guarantee it's not. A BNP march, in some shitty town. Like I said before Racism and Xenophobia unfortunately exists everywhere but that wasn't the biggest issue in Poland/Ukraine I'm worried about, it's more the violence of the places involved.

You can't judge 2 whole countries...Millions of people...on a documentary about 3 football teams. It just isn't fair and it clearly needs to be dealt with, but you're being completely one dimensional about it.

By your logic we should not be hosting the Olympics because I can assure you that there are plenty of scum bags just as bad in this country.

You have to think of it on the basis of the reporter was trying to get a story out of it. He went to the biggest derby in the league and reported on the outcome. If he went to other matches would the same problem occur? I doubt it. I'm sure there were other matches on why didn't he go to these?

It's like going to a Chelsea Vs Tottenham match and reporting on Anti-Semitism.

I can name several different songs that are just as bad/worse than last nights antics that I have been heard sung by more than a minority of Chelsea fans in the pubs before hand. Also in 2007 the FA cup reply at WHL was marred with gas sounds.

I have also seen several Chelsea fans Sieg Heiling before.

I'm absolutely not condemning what has happened and don't take it as I am, because there is clearly a huge problem that needs dealing with, but you also have to look at the wider picture.
